new tailamp panel
boot floor and boot repair likely

vq statesman yeah?
im thinkin market value about $6000 or $7000, as long as repairs dont exceed 75% of market value, she'll most likely be a keeper...

That is bad luck, I hope everything happens the way you want. What do you want? a write off or not?

also, if you had an afermarket stereo, mags, etc, can you take 'em off before they write it off or the insurance makes you leave it there?

nah ya cant as they are part of the vehicles 'value'... if the car gets written off you have to leave all attachments as it then gets sold at damaged vehicles auctions...

at $16000 it will be repaired for sure...

Well, if u dont give a dam about ur car anymore (now that the stupid phone person banged the beaut all up), u might as well give it a go and experiment to pop it out. What could u possibly loose?

Don't be afraid to be super critical of the repair, especially since it is not your fault. Best bet is to pop in and visit the repairer a few times during the repair "because you are interested in what is happening to your car".

Do - advise them you are coming
Do - respect their safety procedures while in the shop
Do - ask a lot of questions
Do - let them know you expect only the best quality work
Do - ask them to advise immediatley of any problems
Don't - make them feel like they don't know what they are doing
Don't - accept anything less than pre-accident condition
Don't - get agitated

Hope that helps. I have seen too many people accept below standard repairs, and do nothing about it. They are not happy, but wish they had said something earlier in the repair process.

Thanks for the advice. I have mentioned that i will pop in later on in the week and see how things are going. Repair is not schedualed to start until monday next week. The people seem ok at the repairers. He has even provided me with a copy of the repair list that has been sent to the insurcance company. All good so far.

who is your insurance company? make an absolute pain in the ass of yourself and demand genuine parts are used (as opposed to second hand, exchange and aftermarket parts that are commonly used). though being a holden chances are that the parts are cheap enough genuine so they probably wont go that way... theirs only really the bumper and tail light they could go used/exchange/aftermarket on anyway..

and get someone experienced in smash repairs to look over your car when finished (friend, rellie, dude on the corner whatever..). up here in brissie a head honcho from an insurance agency went lookin at all these cars after they had been returned to the owners and pointed out all the faults (overspray, bad colour matching, differing panel gaps etc) to the amazed customers.... made a lot of panel shops unhappy people...

good luck!
