Not sure what other do after driving their air cooled VW's in the rain, but thought I'd add a tip I do regularly on mine.

On a regular basis I will turn the heaters on full to dry out the heater channels. I make sure I do it after having been out in the rain, and at least once every 2-3 weeks. It's best to do it on a long trip so their on for ~20-30 minutes or more.
In summer I try to do it at night with the windows down so you don't get too hot also!

I don't know if it helps, but the theory is to getting them good and hot will help to keep the heater chanels nice and dry.

Cheers,
Richard

Cool, hadn't thought about that sort of thing. Will have to remember that one when I get the oval going again.
