Was just going through an old FF&R mag when VW's where actually in it. Have scanned some of the pics.

First pics just some general shots.


Second pic with of some nice Ghias and Ray Black esq in his regalia. Think he had his Schwimmwagen that year - not sure.


Last pic is with Mike Martinez, and also a shot of my KG when I had it. Does anyone know where it is now? Rego was PKY-486 and was sold to a guy in Wollongong - not sure of its whereabouts now - I think I heard it was on the Northern Beaches.

Ah the memories!

Many of us were several kilos lighter, and it was much easier to work under those cal lookers!

Mike Martinez is now residing in the US and is building a VW RatRod. His daily driver is a multi-toned Ghia.

I do this in the UK and bring back out the cars you are getting nostagic about. Cars like the Alan Smart tube frame oval, Billabug with billabong surf interior, Targa bug and about 130 others.

Its threads like this that started it all off. I just posted "wonder where these old show cars are" and it spawned off into Back to 89 UK Nostalgia.

Images below from some of the displays of well known UK cars, all on my books.




So anyone wanna help with Back to 89 Down under?



This pics from Bug Jam 2003, where I got all the cars in a display (with display cards about the cars) then at lunch when the track closed, we got them all (34 cars in total) onto the dragstrip at Santa Pod for a line up and I chatted about all of the cars. My cars the pale lemon bug at the front called "Lemon Meringue", the cars are just coming round from the fire up lane to park up.



Heres the cars heading back to the display. Cars shown include VW Dream Machine advert car in light blue from 92, Billabug, Coffee and Cream, LWB Beach Buggy (issue 1 Vworld), Stu Groces resto cal "Groce n Favour".

Happy to help if anyone is up for tracing your nostalgia cars from Aus, and include it in the global Back to 89 scene, which has already started. Got some cars from Sweden now and France, and looking at putting on a show next year to bring back these cars to.

Whos got the balls?

I used to read FF&R back then, I wouldn't even pick it up now. It's all just ricers, they even have six cylinder ricers in there, what's the go with that??
