My missus also reckopns it's great whan you pass another Kombi and the wave happens -reckons it's just 😎 so 😎

Generally don’t bother to wave to young people in bug esp girls coz I figure they got one coz its cute and cheap…but perhaps I should so the BECOME VW people.
Have had people pull over and I too if I see a splity and have a talk to the owner. This one guy had a bay, and pulled in to see my splity while I was aerating the tires. He had his nephew with him and was going oh nephew look at this oh and that etc I think hi s nephew could have given a shit…lol
I wave at lots of VW's and hardly anyone waves back at me 🙁
Only true VW people wave at me cause I guess the others don't recognise a type3 as a VW. Most people only know of bugs and kombis.
i notice too that kombi usually wave more
i've had this old man follow me all the way to work in his original 63 bug that he bought back in... 1963!
but i've also waved to this guy in a slammed early bug and he looked at me very weird
was out in the golf the other night and this other elderly lady in another silver golf gave me a wave
both water and air VW owners are cooL!

speeding is bad!
relax - god's in charge

Yeah I feel bad for ruling out the watercooled VW owners. My mistake. You guys rock as well!
I saw an old guy driving a sweet looking bay bus today and I waved like an idiot at him but no response. I'm sure he had no idea how cool he looked behing the wheel of such a nice ride. Methinks his sh@t doesn't stink either! Too cool for school perhaps...
.
Had an old bloke corner me to go over my Kombi the other week - he was wrapped in it and it is amazing how many people do stop and talk to Kombi owners:bounce:bounce:bounce

Well it has been said that,
" You meet a better class of people driving a Kombi"

YOU SHOULD FEEL BAD !!!! hehehehehehehehe
As for the old guy, maybe he was blind ?
🤘
I get heaps of waves in the Country Buggy although most people dont know what it is but a guy in a Kombi waved the other day. Funy when I first got it on the road my wife and daughter did want to be seen dead in it! Now my daugher (11) can't wait for me to take it out on the weekends and she waves at every body, now I'm embarresed.
As for Kombis, I just got one last week (need a new project) and started noticing how many there are around here. Just today I counted 16, and thats only in a couple of hours of driving around the coast!
Blind as a bat! I reckon there are Kombi owners(cool people), and then there are people who just happen to own a Kombi (no idea).
.
Yeah I agree with you there !
BTW. Why do you call yourself Type3lover when you have a clear addiction to Kombis ? or are you like me and can't really decide ?
I drool over Karmann Ghia's but own a new beetle (which I may add I adore and wouldn't trade her for a second)

Sure I love the kombi, but the true love of my life is my '68 Notchy. Won't be finished anyday soon (especially since I got the van) but it's a work in progress!
I'll finish it one day...
.
waving is the best, love getting waves from kids in the back of cars and at bus stops, it really makes my day to get a wave...
Dear All,
try driving a country buggy. most kombi owners and other dubheads don't notice it as a dakka, much less wave.
(but I've got broad shoulders)
....hey I know they are a dubb n wave .... but then you don't see many on the roads ....pity.... 🙁
I'd luv one......and a kombi ......mmmmm and a ghia :thumb
Yes agreed not all kombi drivers acknowledge you with a wave back.....if you're in a beetle....we need to educate them
Can never get a wave from the drivers on new transporters....they've just bought themselves a van and it happens to be a VW....there needs to be a section in their VW handbook on road etiquette....Rule 1. BIG wave to fellow VW owners.....especially if they wave to YOU :sandrine
....wow we got a post of a nice CB spotted the other day...the spotter was so wrapt he took a pic not bigger compliment I don't think ..... if the driver was in it I'm sure they would have had a wave :thumb
BTW mscabrio....are you starting to notice the difference in people reactions to you now you have yourself an 'old' aircooled....just because it looks hot doesn't count though OK 🙅

its cos you beetle drivers arent worthy
😉 Us kombi drivers invented the wave, you lot are just ugly wannabes :thumb:P
ghia = italian for rust.

Nice notch! My wife broke down about 3weeks ago on the bribie turn off and she told me that a green offroad kombie drove straight pass her she said the driver even had a good look
Happens alot more now days sometimes not even a wave.
p.s. yes she was driving our orange kombi
my favourite is the delayed wave...... i do this all the time but its funny when you see someone else do it!
You've already passed, but you see the arm go out the window in the rear vision mirrow
hehe
Just tonight driving home, we were at some lights and a splitty was sitting on the other side of the lights (facing us) - we were in our beetle so we flashed our lights and waved - but he just drove straight past.
I don't particulary care - I think the whole waving thing is great - but everyone is different. Just made this comment to show that beetles do wave to kombis - but kombis don't always wave to beetles.:kiss
Hey all,
I've had my kombi for a couple months now and always give the wave to the other kombi owners around the Barossa Valley (where I live).
I remember the first time I took it out for a drive, I pulled up at the petrol station next to another early bay (same model as my bus), and gave the wave. They then left, both people watching my kombi as they drove off, the driver even had his head out the window looking back at my van as he drove away!
Hello all 🙂 I haven't been to this site for a while and thought I'd pop in and say hello.
Every time we take our kombi out someone will come up to us and want to talk about it. I'm a stall holder at the markets and on weekends 'K-2' is the 'market-mobile'. So many times I'll be packing up the stall at the end of the day and be thinking "Where is that husband of mine? Why isn't he helping me? "...and of course, I'll find him at the kombi with some stranger who's bailed him up to look and talk about K-2 LOL
Yes...we love the wave. There's even a pic of me waving to all you fellow kombi owners on our little kombi website 🙂
Well now that i have a beetle i feel abit left out cause i dont get as many waves as i did in the kombi!!
9 out of 10 times kombi people would wave to me.. with a big smile and nod... and now in the beetle probably about half of the beetle people wave to me (but hardly see any beetle as i did kombis).. and its always just a little hand off the steering wheel wave... abit dissappointing but im gunna keep waving until they wave back!!!
