did anyone besides me find that when somthing good/special is said about VW's in the media.. they get offers to buy their rides??
when the plant in mexico closed down i was offered 4.5 for my beetle.. i had just paid 2.7 for it and hadnt washed it yet.. still said no cos i love it..🙂
RACV just did a very small write up saying theyre starting to appreciate in value, and are good reliable cars (latest Royal Auto Mag) and yesterday i had 2 offers to buy my beetle! they were only 3, and 3.5.. but there seems to be some intrest stirred up!!
Anyone else experienced this?

was offered a straight swap last year for mine. Fella was driving a 2004 Commodore crew cab with all the SS extras. No way Jose!!!
A delivery driver once followed me home and offered me 8k. It had just been painted and not yet raced on dirt tracks. so was looking really good. and had just had the 2inch straight exhaust put on so was sounding very mean 🙂
mabye i should have taken it........

I have no sympathy for my car, only the wallet that pays for it!
Go hard or go home!!!!
Have had it happen in the past but with my bay people just ask how much I paid and then can't believe what I tell them - got a great buy

I had a couple of p plate girls pull up next to me once, telling me they wanted a car like mine. When they realised it was REAL, and not a chop, and then heard the price they changed their tune. Damn...should have got their phone number.
just wait till new herbie fever takes off shortly.. great prices are probably on the way n then theyl drive there new/old beetles into the ground for an early death... mass extinction of vws 🙁 RIP

I was asked if mine was registered the other day...
Someone once asked me if i bought it for a parts donor...
I've had offers all the time for the buggy but then I bet all buggy owners do, the problem is if the wife finds out that I've refused!!!! She'd give it away for nothing if I wasn't around....one of the reasons I use it for work everyday:P
was driving out to nationals last year the bug was looking tops got pulled over by the hiway patrol i asked what i had done he said nothing he just wanted to know if i would sell the car
1. The toll gate operator on the Ipswich Motorway last February asked me to set the price for the Double Cab and he'd take it. Problem is, can't find another one in as good as nick. Held up the traffic for a good couple of minutes.
2. Last week the owner of a Jaguar XJ12 convertible offered to swap cars at the lights at Loganholme. Explained that he couldn't afford the petrol bill and he'd get as much street cred with the Kombie. The lights changed before I could offer a response. No, of course.
3. Numerous enquiries at the Klub Bayside meet. One guy was prepared to pay for it on the spot. Said he'd even drop me home. That's nice of him.
eheheh when i called up the paper to put my 73 bug in the lady who answered my call bought it for 3.5. i wasnt expecting to sell it before the paper came out. :thumb

At Klub Fest I was on the Registration table, and the number of people coming and asking which cars are for sale, and others asking if I could find the owner of such and such a Kombi or beetle................it was interesting.

had my car not even a week and someone walked into my work and wanted to buy it off me. My answer was a definite no, even though my work mates were telling me to sell it and get another one. my answer was still no, i couldn't sell her it is my first car.
Got offered 15grand for my manx ten years ago when it was close to a show car, I think the guy was offended when I laughed at him!
