Well mine anyway... 🙂

Do you remember Vans??? you know PV's.... Panel Vans!
Not the Kombi type, the super modified and custom Vans of the 70's-80's. I remember going to as many as i could as a young buck and was always dreaming of one day getting a PV. Only to discover my new attraction to all things VW. Then it's all down hill from there 😉

Well i found this site to bring back all the memories of the 70's.

I had a 'scorty van - a baby PV

Would have loved a big V8

T'was only a 1300. My mate had a 2.0L 'scorty van and another had a twin cam Lotus 'scorty
Futue te ipsum!!!

Sandman Panel Van - friends b/f had one and her parents wouldn't let her get in it....................friends picked her up and then she would get in b/f van up at the servo nearby. She didn't get busted..........until she found out she was pregnant. Her parents then suspected what was going on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahhhhhh those were the days!

Oops, maybe I'm thinking of the 70's...................

I'm showing my age here, but the Chrysler Drifter Panel Vans were awesome. Burnt Orange (as seen in the Wheels cover) was the most popular colour choice. The other was yellow. In my youth I played with Chryslers, and if it weren't for the attraction of VW's, a Valiant RT Charger would be my next choice. Yes, I know, I'm a few sandwiches short of a picnic - probably explains why I tackle peak hour traffic each day in a Kombi.

In the early eighties I had a midnight blue escort panel van with slot mags. It had bubble windows, bolt on guards like a SLR torana and the spade shaped arch inside with decanters??? and the crushed velvet.
Thing was it was only a 1100 and I blew 2 engines(changed to a big block 1300) 2 gearboxes and 4 diffs.
When I took my then bird to the drive in, my mate and his bird would come to, we would be in the back for the first film????, while they were outside sitting on the floor and for the second film we would be outside.

Managed to lift the front wheels many a time(explains the blown engines, diffs, gearboxes) by having all my mates hanging out of the back doors and dropping the clutch.

Cheers
Dave

In the very early 80's my beetle had Triumph Stag front seats and instead of the back seat it was panelled out with deep buttoned dralon and had a drinks cabinet. Door panels, ceiling and the Stag seats were all in the same red dralon. No door handles, black windows, lowered front suspension, wheelarches all widened 4" -not flared, 1835 engine, balanced crank, scat C35 cam and twin Reece Fish carburettors.Several paint jobs the last one being completely white. Loved that car!!

I just remembered, before the interior was red the roof lining had been done like the night sky-dark blue with stars etc. Actually quite embarrasing when I think about it.

.... lol that is so funny you saying that....you must have thought it was very cool at the time though.....why didn't you just cut the roof and see the real sky??? Nothing like a bit of exhibitionism 😀

....but if you were parking outside the parents house then maybe not :duh

When you live in central London you do not cut holes in the roof, what with the weather for starters but we had loads of tower blocks round our way and yes I did think it was cool the same as the cruising lights underneath and the prismatic number plates (which I got nicked for on 3 occasions).
