Hello everyone,

Just wanted to say hi. I posted on the new memebers bit, but I thought I'd say ho here too.

Love the site, and hopefully will be using it more, as I am considering a move over to Australia! Scary stuff, lots to think about.

anyway, here's my ride.. as featured in Ultra VW last year.

Luke.

really? small world, huh..?! its a nice place to live, even if the 'amber nectar' is a little on the pricey side...

my car is a 4, imported form cali in 2001, and snapped up by me straight away. carb conversion, and general bits and peices to give it a bit of an old skool street racer vibe. well, i think it works, anyway!!

yeah, thats just down the road. say hi to them from a fellow resident!

drinks are pricey, yes... this is a roundabout calculation, but i just paid 100 SEK for 2 beers, which is about £7.50.. which is probably about 18 australian dollars. not so good, huh? and as for the weird way of buying... the off licence closes at 3 in the afternoon on a saturday!! 😠

no, i havnt restored the car. it was brought over from cali in good nick, and i just polished it up, retrimmed the seats, smartened it up a bit. a few stickers here and there, and that was about it. it was a well used daily driver in the usa, and i just cleaned her up, thats all. i think that it has been resprayed at some point in her life, but apart from that, everything was original when we 'met'.

i would love to bring the car, but ill wait to see how the job offer goes first... i havnt even had a salary offer yet.

ill keep you posted.

are they still doing that? or are they wasting away in jail losing all of there creative talent?

I moved on from Volksmoan...too many tossers on there and a bit of a strange feeling about the place. I did move onto Restowagen, havent posted for a bit on there tho. I just come on here now, better paced and their scene is very much a scene that I enjoy due to their styles of cars, which fits in nice with B289.

Lemonmeringue or b289uknostalgia were my former Volksmoan usernames. I vowed at New Year never to return or post and ive done well as I only posted once last week when someone gave duff info for getting in touch with me.

I feel that some forums are damaging to the scene in many ways. Extreme negativity and bullying.

hi all.. thanks for the welcome.

I have to agree with you there, stu... I used to use VZi ALOT, but I just went off it. few tw##s there, and a lot of rubbish. fair play to brian, for keeping all this stuff going.. and there is some good things in there, but i dont really look much now.

i just put up a post recently though which i got a lot of great help from, so that was a nice surprise!!

no trackwork as yet, its not really set up for that. but i do take it down the strip at santa pod for some fun!!

secoh... small worl man!! what do you think of my town? sweden's a lovely place.. will be hard to leave if i do.

dont think id get away fro the cops here like those nutters in the videos with my mighty 90-ish bhp!! would give it a good try though!!

thanks pete, could be a great option. made in germany, sold in california, shipped to uk, over to sweden, back to uk and the to oz. wow that would be one well travelled porka!!!

Rookie you doing Bug Run?

I have been exchanging a few emails with Dalhems of Sweden to try and get a Back to 89 display with some of the foreign cars.

It maybe a case of doing Sweden next year and maybe Spa and doing a european lineup. Its a little way off but thats the direction im heading in is moving B289 to one show in the UK and a few in Europe.

Understand what you said about Volksmoan, and there is some good things that came out of it, but in all honesty it doesnt have any further value.

volksmoan ;-) LOL

whinging poms again ;-)

tech area for help is suberb. can't beat getting help from the likes of moby and paul knight. helped me out so many times.

it's the chat that gets a bit silly. too many people hiding behind computers ;-)

bug run and spa are a couple of things that would get me back to the UK. oh and to finish the oval :duh
