So i am going to ask a thousand.

I got a cd of images, there was alot... I just control A and open the lot, then realise that each image is 1.2MB. Well even with my computer specs the poor thing has a coronary. It evetnually opened up a bucket load but then gave some message about IE failing. Watching the CPU meter and Memory usage meter was cool :P Now my favourites list has goooone. I hope it comes back on reboot. OK, the questions....

For those who have 64 bit processors. Are you running a 64 bit OS? I got the beta verion of XP64 a while ago, but cant get the screen to work properly. Too jerky.

Question 1
When you open a document be it a word or excel or jpg or mpeg whatever, a shortcut gets added to the list in the start->documents menu thingo. Is the re a way to make it so that only REAL docs like .doc .pdf get shortcuts? Pisses me off when the docs I use all the time lose there shortcuts when bumped off the list by images or mp3s. (WINDOWS 2000)

Question 2... isnt a PC question but a forum question. I hate the emails informing of new posts. Why do they link to page 1. I want to go to the latest post, not the original. Why go to page 1 when I want to view page 4? Is there a setting at AVW that I can change?

hmm I'm sure I had more questions, must be too late.

my answers are A, with a bit of D thrown in for good measure.
im running a 64 bit processor with a 64 bit OS... i dont have much choice seeing im a g4 mac user, one day microsoft will catch up... hold on... longhorn is rumoured for about a 1-1.5 years release date isnt it :P

as for your windoze gripes... first one, you cant do anything about, just another stupid programming quirk of the operating system you love to hate... maybe just do away with the documents menu and put all your important shortcuts on your desktop? i always used to hate the documents menu, complete waste of time.
and for your second question, i dont think there is a way to get it to go to the newest post on this forum... i know some other forums i subscribe to have it go to the first post and then thread the replies in a heirarchy tree after it so you can find the newest ones... vanderaj should be able to hook something up like that, right?

(so i'm not running a 64bit os)

2. you can turn the setting that emails you off.
and then not have to worry about it..but i suppose that isn't much use.

This week Bill Gates CEO of Microsoft announced that the next version of windows will have a customisable Blue screen of death. He annonced that users will be able to change the colour from blue to a selection of your own chioce. He also stated that when the blue screen occurs you will also be able to set it to play music, a video or even a slidshow of your pictures. Gates also claimed that this is a very exciting time for Microsoft as they are the first to introduce this feature into windows. Gates then went on to say that this is one of the bigest inovations of Microsoft and that they are miles ahead of their time saying that other operating systems such as Linux doestn't even have a BSOD, let alone a customisible one.

Get your guaranteed fix for the BSOD http://www.everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=653343

98! I was the last person on earth to move to 98, skipped 95 altogether and was sure I was the last to change over to 2000. Wish I had of done it earlier. Leaving 3.1 behind was a disaster for me, I hated the new 95/98 interface but... must have internet huh. Up until a month ago, the computer I do all the hillclimb work on was still 3.11.

Star! Have you worked out how to import a .mov file into iMovie yet without the end product turning to crud?

Other forums I am in send just one topic reply notice until you check it again, and the link takes you to that post. Im using gmail so I dont care if I get multiple notices, just want to go to the thread. Looking at the links you get
http://www.aussieveedubbers.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=36521&page=1#pid365987
im assuming tid = thread id and pid = post id. There must just be a bug with the page number, because if you substitute page 14 instead, everything works as it should.

hmmmm the code tag works different in this forum too 🙂

Scientists at the Centers for Disease Control and Symantec's AntiVirus Research Center today confirmed that "foot-and-mouth" disease cannot be spread by Microsoft's Outlook email application, believed to be the first time the program has ever failed to propagate a major virus.

"Frankly, we've never heard of a virus that couldn't spread through Microsoft Outlook, so our findings were, to say the least, unexpected," said Clive Sarnow, director of the CDC's infectious disease unit.

Executives at Microsoft, meanwhile, were equally skeptical, insisting that Outlook's patented Virus Transfer Protocol (VTP) has proven virtually pervious to any virus. The company, however, will issue a free VTP patch if it turns out the application is not vulnerable to foot-and-mouth.

aaahhh I remembered another.

When I open a page in a new window, it opens in a small window. How can I change that to a large window or a maximised window?
