Crusies , why such poor turnouts?

Cruises have to me always been part of dubbing , just like the shows etc. Great chance to get out and meet up with others , see their cars , show yours off abit etc etc. Seems alot of others feel the same way. We have heaps of folks here with VW's and many are rego'd and running though very few actually attend. I'm curious of why folk dont bother. I realise that some are working , some have kids to worry about etc but there must be more to it than that. Could it be the timing i.e Sundays , locations to boring , too far away , already in other clubs?????? I suppose to sort a problem you need to fully understand it so any comments would help. I'd love to see alot more cruises , see some new cars and catch up with folk. Okay AVD , whats the answer to getting better numbers of vw's showing up at cruises? Sandy,

You don't have to 'cruise' up with everyone.........a few of us get together and create our own, as we don't like being in the big slow lineup. We just meet and arrive up there when we are ready and go and have a good look around.

No, it only happens when the cruise leader does 20 kays below the speed limit... seen it happen heaps of times over the years! Just do the limit and everyone will catch up and have fun

have missed the last couple of cruises because of engine problems but i am always up for a cruise a run to the drivein is always good and their was a reasonable turn out for the last one

Clubs aren't for everyone Dave. Some clubs cater for a certain 'group' of people and the rest aren't even considered.

If you wanna cruise then I suggest advertising it well in advance. And keep reminding people.

Good constructive replies from all.

Seems the cruises that are at a set place on a set date tend to work best.

We used to do it where i lived before. Found this huge American style diner and kind of made it our new home. Everyone behaved themselves , the owners of the diner loved us turning up and all the extra business. Every last Sunday of the month all day there would we a string of vw's coming and going. Some stayed 1/2 hour some like me all day. It worked so well as it was simple. If you wanted a cruise on a Sunday you knew if you went there you'd see a heap of dubs at the place. Always new faces aswell , folks from south would drive up etc , lots of trick cars. Good thing was that then pretty much any Sunday would see 6-7 cars minimum and the diner became a regular haunt for the 3 years it was open. It was shut and no one bothered chasing a new place. Real shame.

Maybe something similar here would work. Set place , set time???

I dont know , just want to see more cool vw's together!
