Im thinking that in general, smoking and vw's dont go hand in hand. Thinking that most are non smokers. None of my closer VW friends dont at least. If you were a smoker but have given up... that would be a non smoker.

Errr talking tobacco here OK.

I like nothing more than to light up a nice Cuban or Dominican cigar after or during a great VW Show.

Have been a "non smoker" for 13 months
Ohhhhh how I enjoyed it
But being a part time bar worker I appreciate the new laws to make em smoke outside.
Its all against the smokers now

the only time i smoke tobacco is 1)when i run out of petrol in the middle of brisbane city, during peak-hour, on the thursday before a 4 day long weekend, 2)when i have a final exam which i havent studied for and im nervous as all hell because i need to pass the subject, 3)when i really really really feel like having a sampoerna (indonesian clove cigarette) or 4) if someone has stupidly spun the weed with tobacco. the first one happened once, the 2nd and 3rd dont happen more than once or twice a year, and the 4th one stopped happening after i got shirty about it...

most of my friends are smokers, i just dont get it. then again, i ride between 10 and 20kms a day so smoking tends to work against that, im sure if they had to ride a bicycle everywhere they wouldnt smoke either.

i also get to see the wonderful effects that smoking has on the lungs and bodily tissues every day at my job (emphysema, cancer, yukky black dead lungs....) no wonder i dont smoke.

Well I haven't had a smoke for 6 days now and I am proud of myself. Do I want one.... Bloody oath but I'm not going to. I might have a couple if I am having a few drinks or go out but I am really trying really hard not to be a regular smoker ever again!

I quit just before Xmas after 20 years of puffing (I began when I was 14 or 15) I really used to enjoy a smoke after knocking off, or at lunch, or at breakfast, or with a coffee, or with a beer, or after an exam, or after working on the car, or fighting with the girlfriend or... Now I can't fukken believe I did that dirty stinken habit and was a drug-addicted dickhead, loser smoker...and for so long!

I've been "clean" now for about 6 months. Can't believe I've finally managed to do it (give up). Tried numerous times, but always fell for the "I'll just have one".

Really feel like I'm over the hurdle this time around - and I feel great - let alone having all that $$ in my wallet at the end of the week (hang on - there is never any $$ in my wallet because it's all going on the credit cards!!)

I can handle the smoke in the air at a club (because I have to), but not when it is drifting directly from a smoke into my face, thats more than a bit rude I reckon. Not to worry every July 1 it gets tougher for smokers, and July 2007 it will be banned indoors anywhere so... looking good. I had a couple of goes as a youth... never did anything for me. Same deal with marijuana.

A friend stole a few ciggies from her parents and we had them down the side of the house. Then bought a packet after a break up with a girl and chain smoked them. Nuffin.

Tried a bong on a camping weekend with mates. All that did was make me feel like I had shoved my head over the fire and inhaled the smoke.

Drinking on the other hand... well from the first night of sneaking in the side door of Wollongong's Harp Hotel and watching the girls doing their thing to the Kirk Davis one man band thing... hooked. Had to order tequila sunrise because that was the only drink I knew the name of. :thumb

I smoked for 5 years, but never was a heavy smoker. I quit 8 years ago by going cold turkey, and haven't had any since. For me it was just a matter of getting out of the habit of get to work: ciggy, ciggy @ morning tea, ciggy or two at lunch, ciggy @ afternoon tea. It didn't help that everyone where I worked at the time smoked too. WhenI stopped buying smokes and bought chocolate bars instead, Ididn't put on weight or anything but I was spending even more than if I'd kept smoking! LOL 😉

Smoked 80-100 a day until 30th October 1981 and had cardiac arrest.
Stopped but 22 years later had to have bypass and that is something you would not wish on anybody.

Yeah I gave up about 3 1/2 years ago. As Akean knows smoking and martial arts training don't mix.

tried it ONCE! reasons I don't smoke:
1. had mild asthma as a young kid and just the memory of it coming back or having something similar puts me off.
2. Seen what it has done to both my Grandfathers. One in his late 60's has many health problems and so on, if he quit he would feel better to do exercise and get healthier while saving a shitload of dough. The other is in his late 80's and up untill about 5 years ago was a healthy and as fit as anybody, very active. He quit something like forty-fifty years earlier cold turkey and it has come back to get him in the form of almost total blindness, due to the breakdown/damage to the eyes caused by smoking. Killed his lifestyle completely, I feel so sorry for him.
3. Seen what it's already done to some of my mates.
4. I can't afford it. I'm broke as is. I look at it this way, if I was smoking- I wouldn't have a kombi. I wouldn't of had enough money to buy it.
5. I don't see the point.
