I'd like to get some more camber into the front of my SuperBeetle. The inner eccentrics are set 'max neg' but I still have pos camber. I reckon it's just a matter of elongating the holes at the bottom of the struts to lean the wheel in a bit more...? It's just for my streeter/daily driver with std wheels and tyres, not track or 'Old Road' driving... Hints appreciated!

I got eccentric strut tops from v-force. They are pretty sweet. A plate on each side of the strut top and the strut top itself has a movable plate. It's like a sandwich type thing so you adjust the position and then bolt it down tight.

Yes that was a crap explanation, that is why there are pics here too!

You would be safer just adjusting at the top....
Its common for many cars with mcpherson struts to have the top holes elongated...[ slotted] so there is more adjustment..
They may even do it when getting a front wheel adjustment..
You can buy drill bits with teeth for slotting holes or a round file is the slow way....

cheers

Can't be done...

I'll just slot the strut leg holes like so many other strut cars over the years...

Hi all you strut fanciers

I bought some adjusters from an Ecsort at Pedders, I had to elongate the holes, then just welded on new tabs for the larger adjusters, or you could unpick your existing adjusters move them out and reweld them.

Hi

Very good idea, and not adjustable. Just get some angle iron, cut to lenght, notch it so it can bent to the correct angle, bolt it to the 4 rear bolts only & weld it up.

VWC

b4 you dismiss the V Force ones work out if you are going to run decent width tyres.

If you are you are going to need thinner springs and if you are going to lower it as well.....

Just like a beam car - work out your whells and plan the car around them.

Gets even mor expensive if you have to redo things

I agree with Bizarre,

Another thing too. A mate of mine has a Datto 1600 rally car. He got a set of very similar struts for the front of his car. They weren't quite as exy as you might think (although I don't know what Vforce charges) and they were a really good investment. The first race out, he managed to fully tune them in two short runs.
