Traffic cops ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Happily crusing back from Bondi and i see flashing lights in the mirror. Having done nothing wrong i thought all was okay until Mr fresh out of police college started.
Seems he's not into resto's or sense of humours and went over the square like you wouldn't believe.
Having found nothing the matter with my dub he decides the my side venetions that are next to the passengers in the back are illegal. Said they obstruct my view and the passengers and have to be taken out as it's a 4 seater and not a 2 seater. After a few heated words ( big mistake!) he then points to the visor and says that to blocks my vision to. How the fu*k can it obscure my vision and as i stated it was designed for the car. Lastly he told me to get rid of my aerial ball , the reason being that it could be dangerous. So a round foam ball is more dangerous than the end of an aerial then , what a tool!!!!
Funny thing is i wasnt given any defect notices and just told to remove them. He said he was a local copper and if my car was seen with the parts fitted i'd be booked!
In these times of rape , murder etc i'm getting pulled for an aerial ball! Doesn't make sense really:o

Ho hum

He was probably jealous of your spiffy VW and wanted the aerial ball for himself !

[epithet deleted - ajv] My mum cruised down to the hyperdome (local shopping/store/resturarant/public mega plex thing to go to aerobics, and there was at least 20 coppers pulling young drivers over and booking tickets like mad. And the cops were smiling, laughing with each other and having a ball.

I'm not too sure about this, but do cops get commission when they hand out fines/tickets? Cause I can't see more of a motive to be nasty and not issue warnings for small mistakes/breaches of the law, rather than being power hungry.

But I got a friend whos in cop school at the moment. lol. And she is a responsible nice person, so they aren't all that bad. Just a few jerks.

Man .. that really sucks! I'm surprised he didn't get you for ride height if he got you for the ariel ball.. sheesh.

Is there somewhere you can go to get a roadworthy with the acessories? Just to prove the bastard wrong... I mean, if the sunvisor was designed for the car, he can't tell you to take it off!!

yes they can be like that but if its all above board you could complain to his station but that would be just making an arse of yourself and not a good move.

Lucky...could've been much worse.

Had a similar instance the other day in the notch...could see this cop car weaving in an out, no lights but pulled in behind me, sat there for about a km then pulled out alongside me ,smiled and then took off...wtf.
Just hope it was a smile of admiration and not......I'm going to get you one day

You can leave the accessories on.

You must have clear vision on your front door windows, but any windows rear of the driver can be spray painted black if you want to. You will however have to have a RH and LD side mirrors both fitted if any rear vision is obscured.

Sunvisor is original accessory also and I am sure you can come up with a copy of an original accessories book to prove it so.

The antenna ball is just him being stupid. A frigging ping pong ball would struggle to hurt a fly.

Hi

There must be more too this, maybe his girlfriend must have said "look at that hot guy in that hot car". If he keeps it up go over his head and talk to his supervisor. I got pulled over for having ambulance glass in bug, I told the copper about the law that Helbus mentioned, it shut him but he was always on the lookout for me.

I got pulled over about a Month ago in my Baja, after I blew the Musical Horn in the main Street of Healesville.

The Cops loved the Car and had a good look at it we were talking for ages.

But they did say that the Black taillights and Black front indicators are illegal.

The thing that saved me was that the Musical Horn is on a Different switch to the Normal Horn.

Two weeks earlier I got pulled over in my XR8, because the Cop said I put the REGO sticker on the top left of the Windscreen and it should be on the bottom left.

What a Dick Head he came up and said cant you read instruction and than started talking like a Robot.

" It clearly states that the rego Transfer should be placed on the Bottom left corner of the Windscreen".

I said, " Forgive me Cuntstable for I have sinned lock me up and throw away the key”.

He told me I have been official warned. Well I'm scared now.

I have had one of those official warnings for speeding a couple of years ago 75km in a 60km zone after night duty. Told the cop that I was a Nurse and on the way home from work. I batted my eyelids (Cops love Nurses !!!!) and was told to "slow down" and that he would be "watching me". He probably should have known that I was a speeder, I was driving a WRX !

In the UK when nurses still wore the caps I used to leave one in open view in my car and cops and traffic wardens never booked me for parking illegally. A girlfriend (a nurse) was let off for speeding countless times, so the moral is guys get out the make-up and put on those uniforms!!!! Hey this is getting close to the BA forum.

He he. Dressing as nurses, yeah soon all the dubber shops are gonna have them in stock for us guys. And we will have to batter out eyelids like MsCabrio to not get a ticket. 😀

Us guys would seriously make fugly nurses lol. I wonder how male nurses go with the cops lol.

Danny, Cops like that are a$$holes. I have been driving through the carpark in my beetle (where i live cars like mine stick out like dogs balls) the cops were sitting in the carpark in an unmarked car waiting for the local V8 tools to come in...... i got smile a thumbs up as i drove past, they approached me and had a good chat..... told me i was too low, but they said if i could get away with driving on the local roads this low, then good luck to me.....:thumb:thumb:thumb

Don't know how I missed this post first time around Danny. That sure sucks, but as everyone else has said, if he hasn't made it official, then there's no proof. But if he is an arsehole, he'll remember unfortunately. Take it easy.

Write a complaint to the comissioner. Explain that you dont mind the what he said, its the how that is the problem and you expect to be treated reasonably and with respect, as does the orificer. I have done this on a number of occasions and got a formal apology from the officers concerned. The trick is to keep your cool and be polite and respectful. I have told an officer that I expected his level of behaviour to befit his uniform and that his training and the community expected a higher level of professionalism than that he was displaying. He stiffly walked away and got in his car and sped off......

You dont have to accept being treated like that. You however must model the correct behaviour or you dont have a leg to stand on.

I had one guy pull me over heaps...just to say hi and check on the kids...he was about 60 and about to retire...he pulled me over once when i took a corner to fast...but whole story goes...i took bend to fast cause i saw wn injured roo...pulled over...he began to bok me...I said thats fine...but i have to check on the roo...went back...called wires...he was watching...didnt get booked...

but once i got warned for not indicating left...explained i had part to fix (was on mums car) and autos was booked...could only indicate of 'soft turns' liek roundabouts...not hard 3/4...but i always held indicator up til turn taken ... it was a ford falcon 1971...so nto liek part was available easy...etc...he lets me off...follows us....next turn is roundabout...i hold indicator...same cop pulls me over..."you lied you lied' now im going to book you....i hop out of car, let him reach in adn check...and explain again.....let off with a warning...again

Funniest thing I had like that was about 1979 , 7am Sunday & I was in a whole group of cars on 3 lane road doing 75 in a 60 zone, cops in unmarked car picked me to pull over, (wonder why) they then decided they better go over car, 1st up was no windscreen wipers " I look over the screen so window wipers are not required" Bum, too low then. "original height, chassis is underslung so ride height can not be raised" Bum they consulted between themselves a bit more & came back with - The exhaust pipe (see photo- just in front of rear wheel) must exit
more than >>>> inches to the rear of the rearmost opening side window (true) -we will be issueing you with a defect. "but it has not got any opening side windows, it does not have any side windows" Bum Bum Bum, let me go with speeding fine
There are good cops & bad cops, just like anything else in life, a difficult job , attending crimes & accidents with mashed up people etc , piles of paperwork & under constant media & public scrutiny
