Hi all,
A little old lady has traded in her VW beetle where one of my friends works at a car yard. It is a 1962 model, very good condition, 50,000 miles on it, full logbooks and one owner!!! I don't know if I will get it, if not if anyone else on here is interested I can find out more info on it. How much would I be looking to buy a bug like this for?

I'd keep quiet about and don't talk it up with the dealer - you know what they're like. Just tell the dealer that you'll take that rust bucket off their hands as is, to save them the trouble. 😉😉😉😉
He may be looking for $1000

hehe yeah i know what you mean squizy i will deffinately be playing it like that. Would a 62 be valueable at all? It has been converted to 12 volt
Any one owner like that would be worth it. If it's rust free and straight, and the paint is ok, $1000 sounds like a good deal.
So do you think it'd only be worth $1000?
with out be silly - it is worth what some one will pay.
Yes - it is a pre 67
Yes it is a documented one owner, low milage good cond.
IF you are after that car then it is a bargain.
Would i buy it if it was offered to me - no. Dont have the space $$$ or particularly like the early ones.
But...if you have a spare G and some space and want a good base for another ride then grab it before it is flogged off to some who want a roo shooting car
Futue te ipsum!!!
The dealer would have given her $500 for it. Prob $1000 on paper. Offer $1000 it would be yours. Bargain-O-Rama.
It's worth $2,500 all day long to someone on here if it is as described.

He is a friend of mine and I probably won't get to look at it for about a week! I am interested in it myself I just have to work out the finances. If I can't afford it though I will post the info up for all the people interested. The project is still going along nicely! We are up to priming stage this weekend (fingers crossed the weather holds up!). But it is completely rust free and looking lovely. It's just hard having to share a car atm so that's a big reason for thinking about the possibilities of this 62 bug. Plus I would love the chance to restore it. Special Air force you cracked me up with that comment! hehe
I will keep you all posted and let you know how it looks.

Well it turns out my friends boss (who owns the dealership) wants to keep that bug for himself 'and do it up' so i don't know what the hell that means. He doesn't even like bugs or I doubt he will appreciate it 🙁 I am really sad now, if I didn't get it I would have loved to have seen someone on here get it. Oh well i suppose that's the way life goes.
he could join the forum to see what real classic VWs look like...and quickly, before it gets a poraga kit! 😠
