What do you do when all the lugs snap off your seat rails? Can you replace the rails or something?
Not really sure what part you are talking about.
First - i assume you are talking beetls??
What year - early, middle or late 3 point??
has it broken on the seat or the rail on the floor ???
Does it look like it cam be welded back on?/
No chance of a pic???

its the part that holds the seat in position and stops it from moving back and forward. I put my foot on the clutch and the seat slides back so far I can't reach the pedals. It's a 1970 beetle.
Hi
The lugs dont often break off. Usually the lever dosent snap back into place to lock the teeth in. Try removing the seat and give the lever a shot of WD40 so that the lever springs back nice n easy.
Steve
no, they've broken off.....
Someones had some non standard seats in it and bent the lugs down to accommodate. We've taken those seats out to get it regoed and now the lugs are weakened and most have broken off...can you get new rails ?
If you look VERY carefully you will see the clawed/toothed lug Steve is talking about on the left tract
It "just" swings down and and catches the tract.
If you compare with the right you will see it is different.
OR
Has it broken off and is flopping about in the car??

eeeeeeewwww
I an thinking you mean the rail on the floor pan is rooted.
Yes - you can buy a new floor pan and take the rails off that and braze/weld them onto your old pan.
May as well change the whole pan 🙁 might be easier

Barry is right, you can buy new floorpan halves and pinch the seat rails from them, however a word of caution first !
I have new pan halves in my 73 and the seat rail material is very thin... its definetely different to standard german metal. As a result, even with the plastic runners that sit on top of the rails, the seats have play at the base (passenger is worse), which is not ideal.
I'd find someone wrecking a bug and either just cut and transplant the seaction of the seat rails with the lugs on it, or remove the entire, original german seat rails and transplant in total.
But if you have to the new ones will do, they just arent as good as you can get.
bingo.....have an old beetle...pans is dead...holes in back as big as my baby....but rails r good...german ones..
will see if i can get friend to cut rite round them this weekend to send to u if it helps...

Where abouts are you . I'll be putting in race seats so I wont need my runners anymore . I'll probably get new floorpan halves for both sides
Located in a place called Seaham, near Newcastle, NSW.
We haven't fixed the rails, just made them so the seats are on, but we can't move them, which means we can't adjust when we switch drivers, which means I can't drive the car generally...
But that's OK, we've got another bug....
Might have some in Taree if youre still wanting them will check this arvo and get back to you
