How long does a car have to be out of rego before it requires a "blue slip inspection"???
And are they are they are a pain in the arse to have done?
Everything has to be schmicky-dick hasnt it?
I'm talking NSW registrations.
Cheers

the better the car looks etc usually is in your favour, because if it looks like an old bomb the inspector will go over it more (my experience only) :o

everything has to be right as the car not only has to pass a road worth but also has to pass a design check. seriously mate just go and ask my old man any questions about to what standards it has to conform to and then get him to do the blue slip. but be warned hes normally booked out at least a week in advace

if ya got rust jsut put something over it. it is said htey are not allowed to 'prod lift peel or dig'. they can only observ. unless they of course notice some structural, then your stuffed ( and of course rightly so ). it can look rough, ive seen some real dodgy lookin ones get blue slipped, as long as its all working and proper. saw one at barls old amn once. geez it was a shocker and you could tell it had could 'possibly' have some probs but it mechanically performed a treat.

hes in taree and surface rust is not a problem as long as its just that anything more is bad. yeah wes your right about some of the cars that get brought in but he has only failed one dangerously to my knowledge, which pissed the owner off cause it means the car is not even safe to be driven and must be towed away. but that was cause he put it on the hoist and it got about a foot off the ground and started creaking and groaning like it was ready to break in half. so he let it down and looked under and found the chasis was rusted away and they had glassed it up
