As part of my big brake upgrade that I have been working on:

http://www.aussieveedubbers.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=36884&page=1

...I am sourcing a quote on having VW-style hubs manufactured to allow Falcon EA rear discs to be fitted without welding/machining of rear hubs. As many know, welded and restudded hubs are technically illegal and often knocked-backed for 'Engineering' for street rego.

These hubs will be splined in the centre (of course) and have uniform flange thickness (no cast-in ribs on the rear face) to allow any PCD/stud pattern - VW, Porsche, Falcon, Commodore etc - and the option of either wheel studs or bolt holes.

I intend to include hubs of this specification - 100% legal and 'engineereable' in all states - in my rear disc brake kits when I sell them.

However, if demand is there from people who already have Falcon-based rear discs, etc, I would be willing to offer bare hubs or hubs machined to any stud pattern. At this stage, I feel I should have the hubs manufactured with dimensions to suit Falcon discs, rather than as a standard replacement VW item (ie: machined ready-to-go with smaller diameter and with a centre spigot to fit the Falcon disc centre hole)

At this stage, I have no idea on cost but let's be realistic, tyre kickers... quality costs and I reckon they will be several hundred dollars each. I paid around $400 a side for my front hubs so let's not kid ourselves, okay?

Is anybody else interested in these? Multiple units or batches may bring the costs down.. nn[ Edited on 5-7-2005 by VWCOOL ]

Vforce already have these 🙂

The blank hubs aren't mentioned on the website but shoot them an email. They are also cheaper then "several hundred dollars each".

No point re-inventing the wheel if you don't have to. 😀

Sweet! That saves me a bit of stuffing around!

I wish I'd made this post (or someone had mentioned it...) three months ago - it would have saved me several hundred bucks in welding and redrilling my old ones... grrrnn[ Edited on 6-7-2005 by VWCOOL ]
