To me modifications are altering the period and the power of the car in some way...but I'm no expert ... but yes a clip is a big alteration to an original car ....to me the trophies weren't the thing in the first place ... it was restoring Bel and I do hate some of the anal conversations on here at times
I think this is something we are trying to address in some way down here at the next DOVW...trying to classify what is modified... and also for cars that are more standard than stock original taking of points for alterations
I think we need to determine what is classed as standard....and what is stock original....the class in the shows is for standard not stock original ....
This does make it hard for people with beautiful original stock...untouched dubbs of all Types
I think if you are restoring a car for your own enjoyment then go for what you want in your car not what is going to be judged as correct...you're never going to please everyone and there are always going to be better cars come along next time...it's great to see nice rides being finished all the time

I would think the sunroof would be ok myself because it's a period mod. If it were a sunroof from supercheap then I'd have a different view.
Asked the same question when my notch took out best original...being matt black and having extractors and a sound system....bit of a grey area.

me, I think its fair to call a car with an accessory rag added as stock, as it really isn't a modification like engine upgrade, suspension etc.

As for contactign Dave, Iicked up a Britax roof while I was down in Melb last weekend and was wondering if it would put my car into the modified ranks. Personally I don't think so, but I am not sure if square's came with ragtiops, I know they had metal sliding roofs but not rags???
Apparrently all have said the one I bought is for a squareback... only problem with my plans fo the square... its BLACK!!!! So maybe a different paint job will be required.
As for putting it in, yeap Rob, I don't really care what other peopel feel about it, I just don't want to upset ppl if I say its stock and the general opinion is that it should be modified.
The big thing that may put a dent in my plans is that I am looking at buying a house so all money will be sucked into that creation rather than the cars 🙁

We cleaned it up to sell it and it came up so good he decided to keep it.
plus we had no bites in the short time it was for sale.

we got new brake pads for the golf..and put them on this morning, and when we were getting them..i looked accross the road and there was a vw shop (that i'd never seen before), and there was one type 3 and 6kombis sitting in the front yard...just sitting..didn't looked they were doing much.,..
