Hey all,
Im going to trim the interior of the squareback myself.
Im wondering what type of carpet is best to use? ?Is there a special 'in-car' carpet or will just about anything from a carpet shop be suitable?
Thanks all.
Automotive carpet is the go because it's generally thinner and lighter and easier to put over humps and round tricky corners.
Domestic carpet is generally heavier and thicker and not so easy to manipulate in the small confines of a car.
Whatever you use you'll need to bind it or it will fray.
Unless you use the water resistant stuff used in boats. It wont fray but it looks pretty plain.
Good luck with it.

There is also two types of auto carpets, moulding (with the plastic cover on the back which you heat with a heatgun the mould it to shape) or the trimming type. The trimming type is more tricky to shape obviously

Whitworths Marine, Bias Boating, Clark Rubber and Jacksons Rubber & Vinyl are all in the Brisbane/Ipswich area and all sell the marine carpet, some of which is really quite nice. I think Jacksons also have a full range of auto trimming supplies including carpet and vinyl. They are in Ipswich.
