How hard would it be to convert a 9 seater kombi to be a walk-thru model?

I am looking to purchase a project kombi and am more interested in an 8 seater, but if the 9 seater can be modded and still remain strong and legal this may open up some other van choices to me.

Thanks for any replies

Um, well, in my experience, from what I've seen, walkthrough bays are more common. In fact, I can't remember seeing too many bays with bench front seats (except panels). It would therefore almost seem a shame to do it...

In response to your actual question... (sorry, easily sidetracked - late and still at work...)

Here in Vic, if you change seats in any way, you need an engineers cert. It probably would be legal considering that walkthrough busses were made at the factory. Might be easier to just swap it for one that's already a walkthrough though :-)

Cheers, Aurel

I've got a walk through 72 Microbus, just have to bolt in the dickie seat (standard part) and off ya go. Then 8 seats become 9.

It's not a people mover, it's a bus...
