Eventually I would like to save up and buy a 1600TP and recon it or just save the hassle and buy a new brazillian one...1600TP which are $2000. Has anyone had the brazillian ones b 4 and how do they run? I don't which of the 2 is a better idea?

the brand new ones mick sells are fantastic they are so smooth and they even sound different AND if you reco a t1 properly it will cost nearly the same anyway

I've seen several of the Brazilian ones that Mick sells and they are well worth the effort. Everything is brand new not 30/40 years old like your reco motor will be.
But these are only Long Blocks, so you need all the extra stuff like tinware, Carby & manifold, Distributor , exhuast etc.

Yeah I gathered I would still need to buy all the extra stuff. I just think it's so much easier to buy a new (once I have the money!) and then just put it on in there and not have to worry 😉 It would be good to have people's feedback who have had the new brazillian motor and what they think.

I have not had a new one but i will say the IF (and i repeat "IF" you want to build a hottie) be aware the new brazilian long blocks come with a cast crank and not a original German forged steel one.

a original German forged steel crank still makes one of the best building blocks for a counter weighted hi po crank.

"and they even sound differen" - i think that is because they have hydraulic lifters

That all said for $2g's for new P&C's, case, cast crank, heads, cam, lifters, bearings, oil pump it aint bad buying

i just bought one for my type 3. Seems to be running great so far. Mind you, ive only had it for 2000 miles, and havnt really revved it over 4g. Sounds better i think than a reco engine and runs a lot smoother. I did rebuild my carbies etc so that probably helped too...
