Hey everone, Just wondering what the difference is between a baywindow kombi auto box and a T3 kombi auto? Which box is stronger/better? Will the later box fit into a baywindow?
Thanks heaps,
Alex.

basically these boxes in a bus are good, unless you have the pleasure of fixing them, then it's a 'rare' as to get parts, or exy to rebuild, I was advised against it by a couple of the more reputable commercial specialist.

the basic difference between a t2 and t3 auto is the watercooled version has a water cooled oil cooler attached...use a 010 box from 76 on as parts are more plentiful and cheaper[swan transmission] sell a o/haul kit for around $500.00....the 010 box is plenty strong ..upgrades to this box are easy using 200t audi clutch pacs..good luck cheers dsk steve

Do you mean which has a gear ratio best suited to highway cruising? It depends on your wheel size and the power curve of your motor!

This website has a good calculator that tells you what RPM your motor will be running at for any highway speed you enter, it has ratios for all the VW boxes:
http://www.scirocco.org/gears/

These sites also have ratios and other info:
