I'm after some brakes for my oval... and to be honest(an dperhaps rude)... I dont want to pay for them either. Anyone in sydney/wollongong/shoalhaven giving any away? need to clean out shed?
I think oval brakes are different to later drums. Is that right?
How many differnet types are there and how do I know if they are the right ones for a '56?

I bin thru this , there are are a few different wheel cylinder sizes & a few different shoe widths & everything can be mixed & matched, especially over so many years
I am not sure of the exact changover dates of the parts either, so depending on what you already have the critical thing would be width of shoes & the size of the wheel cylinders & have everything in pairs, my rear wheel cylinders are the early smallest ones & they have a 17 on them for 17mm
Please, I need drivers side window regulator (winder mechanism) for my '54
I have some front drums that came off a front end I scored. It could have came from anything though, I wouldnt have a clue. I would like to have the correct parts for 56 if possible. The only rear brakes I have are from a later semi-auto.

yep the backing plates are hard to find the wheel cyclinders should have 2 x 6 mm bolts holing them on
The brake drums shoe adjusting slot is elongated for the front
Have complete 54 rolling pan, brakes, gearbox and 40horse motor. Brakes have just been done also comes with 10.54 speedo so numbers match. Make an offer.

"'' Is a link pin beam a link pin beam or ""'
the early ones dont have the mount for the steering dampener.''
The early trailing arms are different and dont have the recess for the grease o ring on the pin.
just hi-jacking for a moment can you make a bracket and weld it on for the steering damper as i`m changing beams and dont want to change everything just unbolt the steering box and drums off the ends or do i just do away with the steering damper
