Also, i need to know about a Notch because i'm trying to organise storage befor i buy and if i can squeeze into 1 unit i won't have to rent a 2nd space!

cheers

no particular year, just a rough idea would be great.

Barls

It wasnt that i wasnt believeing you i just wanted to measure it myself.

And my 65 is 4000mm front bar to rear bar. So u need extra for some clearance.

Very rough overall dimensions for my VW's
'73Lbug 1600mm x 4100mm
'73 Square 1600 x 4300
'77 Bus 1700 x 4800

These were widest part (mirror to mirror) and longest part (bumper to bumper) and probably generous too because it's what I used when sizing up my new garage. Note the bus length includes front bull bar and rear tyre rack, so probably ~4500 for stock bus.

cheers Andy. Nice one re: the type 3 but the notch should be shorter than your square yeah?

Type 3s n Beetles have the same wheel base 2400mm except the overhang is different so the Type 3s would be slightly longer

Not sure Coxy, I have a wagon and fasty, they look about hte same. I think they're on the same floor pan so can't be much difference in them.
Maybe look here http://www.type3.org/
All my manuals are at home.

all the type 3 shapes should be the same length bumper to bumper. imagine there would be slightly different between early and late models... dunno.

do what I did, pick it up on a trolley jack n spin it around. it was a tight fit but makes for heaps more room.....well if I kept it tidy it would be more room. Dont know why I want more room though because both the other cars are kept outside.

🙂
