Excellent or what!
Arriving in a modest convey from Sydney to find 25 odd cars waiting there was awesome.
Pete's parents and brother were there. They were pretty much speechless and so appreciative of the support shown today.
Much thanks has to go to Sam who really did work wonders and really made the day a success. Seriously, all Sydney dubbers should make an effort to have a day with the Newie folk. They are the real deal!
Squizy, you are amazing too. Thanks for your help.
Shane, thanks for the absolutely awesome job on the card! You are too modest. Tony can't wait to give it to Pete, he knows it will mean so much to him.
Everyone who was there. The day was a credit to you all. Some people went to huge effort to be there... Quincy and his wife all the way from Dubbo and bugeyedbabe who flew in from Brisie! Mick who made a bone-shaking trip in his 32 bucket from Lithgow - what a legend and he ain't even a veedubber!
And the great news... $250 is on its way to help Pete through the many months of rehabilitation ahead of him.
I can't say enough how thankful I am to everyone that made today such a great day!
sounds like a good day yeah..

😵💫
Top day people. We feel priveleged. What a buz .
The drive home to mudgee was, well, where do I start?
First we had to find a map so we could navigate our way out of speers point. thanks dad. then had a damn good cruise home. But whats a vw story without some sort of drama!
First sign of trouble we were 100kms from home, (a round trip of 650km's) when, cruising on about 90k, I lost power to the engine. luckily we were on a long straight road, not a car in site, glided to a nice halt. quick check over,???, scrathed my head, turned the key, and ignition!! off we go....... sweeeeetttttt.......
Then 18kms from home, same thing, this time its dark and my crap rechargeable torch is flat. no ignition,it was kicking the engine over but battery was fading fast.
So close to home, almost teared up..
So, with the faint smell of an electrical burnout, somewhere under the dash, we sat and pondered what to do.
who shall we ring, hang on, do we actually have phone service? Yep, ok! but we only have 1 bar on the phone, so the next drama was, wondering if we'd have enough power to get the story out to who ever we called..."HI, its craig, umm, we have brokern down just outside of .........Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep"
On went the hazard lights..
Passing cars averaged about 1 every 10 minutes, so standing out side in 3 degree temp was not going to win any votes.
Thankfully, only two cars went by before somebody stopped. What a top fella, local, "here mate, use my phone!"
a friend came out to pick us up, however, Quincy is still out there, all alone. Thankfully i have a top mobile mechanic, who is going to get a nice early phone call, begging for help.. fingers crossed we can find the fault.
SO we are sort of home.
We would both like to thank the organisers of the cruise, fantastic job guys and girls!
ps, if anybody has any clues about my electrical problem under the dash, feel free to send em this way...
Craig and Dakota.
Not a good ending Quincy1874.
Unfortunatly i suffered the same fate.
I live in newcastle luckily, but i still had to get a tow truck out to pick me up.
Found out when i got home my fuel tank is like a banana and all the fuel was on one side of the tank and i had no fuel on the other.
Their for i ran out of fuel. DOH
All aside though i had a fantastic day and i was glad to see a good turn out.

Good news with the bus.
Dave (mechanic) picked me up at 8:30am, and had me and the bus back home by 9:15.... Cool.. no need for a tow, turned out to be a wire had worked loose from the left carby, and had slowly been rubbing and melting away over the trip.
I'd probably would have spotted that myself, but its a bit hard when your friggin torch is flat...
So i'll be buying some new wire and clips, time to rewire the engine bay, (been meaning to do it!!)...
Thanks for your support guys. this story has ended happy.:bounce
Craig.
Sorry I missed it! Had other stuff to do, unfortunately. Yep those Newie lads are orroit!
Only a few weeks to Sawtell!
