Lovely 2 year old son picked up the bang bang(hammer) and gave one wack to the fins on the cylinders(no 2 on 1800) braking a small section off, while I was removing heads (see previous post). Is this a problem?
Update on my first head removal job ...all going smooth except for shitty tight screws holding deflector plate on underneath!! Yet to beable to remove ...then sonshine came with bang bang.
Thanks guys
dont take my words for gospel as i havent really looked into vw motors all that much.
but i cant see why one or two slightly broken fins would be enough reason for you to not run the motor?
Anthony
Logically this seems correct just checking before head goes back on..
there were a couple broken fins on my 1641 before i pulled it out of the car.
my brother ran this engine for a year and never stopped on him or anything if that helps.
Anthony
Thanks Anthony
Not the best way to build a motor but i wouldnt junk it just because of a small piece.
You could always carefully get your kid to smash the rest of your cylinders so they match :P
Futue te ipsum!!!
no worries larry .
glad to help out where possible
Anthony
Arent kiddies wonderful for acts of random destruction?
You should be right if its only a small section. The motors still unction with everythig clogged with gunk (to a degree) so one little chunk shouldnt affect it.
If at first you don't succeed. Build, build again.
