The forum on sealed lights poses another question to me ( novice mechanic). What sort of lights does my 71 beetle take. The parking light on one does not work and they are rather dull. I think they are one piece, but don't know where to start in the process to update them to take these H4 bulbs like modern cars.
Any advice??

what you do is buy the h4 upgrades for the mk1 golf and use them they screw straight in and its a straight change over

they should but dont quote me as ive never had a set in the stock guards only the glass ones on chaos which i put the tabs in myself. how are the eyebrows normally held in? is it by the tight fit between the glass and the dress ring or do they just fit in?

yeah I thought the glass held them in and I've never had a close look at the semi sealed units to check it out.

not a problem mate just make sure you get the ones with the h4 bulb bases not the pt43 as its wrong base for many of the newer bulbs. plus i recommend the narva plus 50s as they are a great bulb, bright and white with out drawing more current
