Whilst waiting to sort out what I am doing for my new amp setup, I decided to dabble with a bit of a ricer trend and make some fibreglass eyelids to toughen the Beetle up.
What do you think - good or bad?
I like em because they're different but I'm open to opinions.
Full pics of "how-to" process will be up in the members ride section in the usual thread.
gives the eyes a bit of a piercing look....
are they legal? 'cause you now some QPS twerp will go you for them.....
Gotta say Das, I prefer without...but you hold the keys and they do look good.
I just go 1 fo no, the whole light does it more for me

im not really into them but they r different and would probably grow on me after a while. ur car is tough and it makes it look tougher but i like it more original than that and just the porsche lenses do ti for me. good work by the way.

As long as she has a decent growl to go along with them, its all good mate.
If its got a squeel, then the angry eyes would seem odd and would feel a lil' out of context (like pink on a boys car or a bra on a man). Thats my opinion.
But if the whole thing roars with the angry eyes and looks and sounds tough, bloody beautiful mate. Always good to have an original feature that sets urs as something unique with a bit of personality.

Originality and personal touches are what sets us dubbers apart. Good work, I like them.

I personally can't say I like them, i like the look of the normal 911 lenses with the upper bit. It looks simpler and cleaner without 'em.
Cheers 😀

Thanks guys, I appreciate the comments and honest opinions (don't worry I won't be offended) - the good thing is that they go on and off so easily that if I get sick of them they will be off in a few minutes. Likewise for the police - easy to remove if required. They didn't take long to make so I'm not too worried if I turf em. Time will tell.
Hence the reason for the poll - they may be gone before they even make their debut :Pnn[ Edited on 12-8-2005 by Dasdubber ]
im like john not a fan mate they are different

They look good, maybe peoples opinions would change if they saw them on a different colour car. I remember seeing "BAD BUG", a yellow L Bug with Aeros and old school headlights back in a '98 copy of Volkswagen Australia, I think they'd suit it.
Why don't you see if there's a market for them, if so make half a dozen of them?

I'm surprised at how good they look. I reckon stick 'em on the Samba and see how many you can sell. Might pay for those wheels and tyres.
I wouldn't put them on your car if it was mine. It doesn't need them. It doesn't need anything. Less is more and you've got just enough for my liking.

i think they look great, the best part is like you said a minute to take them off , i say keep them on because most dont like them , if you get sick of them take them off no harm done , make some small ones for the tail lights aswell (maybe not) or maybe
gravity wont get you high
I'm not sure Al. From the first view I was thinking no, but looking from the front, it does bring it to life....in a Herbie kind of way. I suppose it depends on what type of attention you want to attract. I agree with 65busser though - but them on the Samba and then count the $$.
I think that I like em without ! Damn fine looking bug you have there though. Would be very happy to park that in my garage! What color is it? Is it brown?
🤘
Different as you are doing your individual touch and hey isn't that what it is about :thumb

IGOR is ALIVE !!!! 😎
go the angry eyes dude! I'm so over chrome ones and this car looks so custom the glass suits it. Tell you what though, if you really want to go nuts, make a set the cover the whole lot with little slots in an like WW2 light covers, 😏
I love the car but the lids (as well made as they are) are gay - ricers are gay and putting those gay lids on your lovely ride is gay -gay gay gay!!! not that theres anything wrong with that of course!!! 😏
put it this way - if you fit the lids, you'll need a shopping list down each side!! 👎

Thanks everyone - they certainly divide opinion 😁
I think for now they will stay off....but they may make an appearance every now and again. It was all a bit of fun.
By the way, feel free for anyone else to use the idea - there is no way I have the time to make them to sell.

i would leave them on. its one hell of a car and if its gonna be custom then thats the way to do it. i got a bright orange bug eye with black guards and the looks i get are awesome. it will let the people know that its not an ordinary vw and that alot of work went into it. i say go for it.
