I started in back of pack and crossed at 2hr 14mins.
Better than I could have dreamed... although I cannot walk and wont walk for 3 days.

my wife did it with our 16yo son
She said to #1 son - come on, lets do it. Anyway - #1 plods around "the bay run" in under 50 walking the dog, so he says "ok"
It was a shock to him. I think he thought "why if Mum can do it - it MUST be easy"
But when i picked then up he was "yeah Dad - no worries, great fun"
Well, wife had to drag him up the hill cursing and sreaming, but they did it in 98.
Lea (wife) did it in 81 last year. But sh made sure "she" crossed first. There was no way she was holding back to let him cross in front of her.
Looks like i am going to have to do it next year.😢
Good on ya for doing it! :thumb

apart from the 'oh shit I am such a complete idiot' feeling, the feeling of 'woohoo I made it' is awesome.
I havent done any exercise in living memory until about 8 weeks ago when I dared myself to do it. I did a little bit of training but then stuffed a groin ten pin bowling so that put an end to training 3 weeks out from the start. I got one final 4km run in last monday and thats it. Im a large gutted man boobed person so if I can do it, anyone should be able to. Just went through the herald and out of 67,000 entrants, 50,271 finished, and I came 26,971 118:03. I'm super happy with that. I think the atmsophere of the event dragged me on a lot of the way, the first 7km felt pretty easy.
I must confess I cheated. I had an aerodynamic tow from a very nice young girl with a very nice young bottom wearing very nice lycra short cheeky shorts. I managed to stay within sight of her until about the 9km mark when she powerwalked up a hill away from me.
On the train going up there was an older couple... well I thought they were a couple. The woman was 89 although she looked about 70 to me, and the man was her son. This was her 13th C2S and she said this was the first one she was only going to walk... bloody amazing.
And then you get out there you are being passed by old ladies and little kids.... going to have to train better next year, get a better starting position, buy running shoes not casuals.... I learnt a lot.
Who wants to do the bridge run next month? on ly 9kms! 😀🤪
