Just wondering if you can get the metal lip section that is spot welded on top of the door sils (heater channel) that holds the carpet in place?

go to a sheet metal merchant and get some made up out of zinc plate. They will fold it for you. and just plug weld them on with a mig.

Something else I'll be trying on the bug I'm restoring, is doing away with these lips altogether, and using a nice screw down scuff plate that runs the length of the door opening. They come in chrome (might show scratches) or a polished alloy finish. They hold the carpet in place, and make for a nice custom touch. I haven't purchased them yet, but I believe Brett from Cruisin Car Carpets had some.
Just an alternative suggestion.
