Had a bit of a search and didn't help to much. I'm thinking
of giving my 2L kombi a bit more go go and was thinking
about ditching the standard carby's and going to a
single progressive webber. I don't want to blow out the fuel
consumption so thats why i'm thinking of single webber.
What size should i look for? How much would i'd be looking at? Do you think a progressive is the way to go as in the future i plan on putting 1800 heads on and a slight cam. cheers

the progressive weber only comes in two sizes for vws. the type 1 32/36 and the type 2 not sure what size but i think its the same but different jetting. the new ones start at about $450 for the carby then you need the manifold as well. havent run one on a t4 but had one on a bug and it went well.

Believe this is common in UK - I reckon only cause the prog is common there. Kits are sold here as i have seen them.

Let me start with - i am a fan of the Prog

BUT

The type 4 is a much wider motor than a type 1. The biggest problem with centre mounts on VW motors is fuel condensing and fall out of suspension (air gas?) - hence why VW had heat risers.
The Type 4 does not have heat risers.
I believe in those IMDU or whatever heat wraps as much as i believe in faries 😂 No one will convince me they work.
Yes - you live in Qld, I ran a prog on a Type 1 through 2 winters and i live in Sydney.

So - in a nut shell.
Would i put one on?? - yes if i had a freebie laying round as i enjoy playing with jetting and a jet shop is close to me and jets are cheap on a prog as there are not may of them.

Would i buy a new set up for $500 or $600. NO WAY!
For a little bit more you could get
1 webers
2 rebuild your existing
3 2nd hand stock electronic injection

I use to run a 180 holly (had webber stamped inside it) on my 2L and was an absolute pearler! They dont make the 180 anymore, but i found one a few years back in old stock! That size was ideal, and the engine was a lot smoother than the twin set-up, easier to maintain and allowed heaps of room in the engine bay!!🙂
I may be able to get a hold of a re-kitted one for you if your keen. Its a good unit thats not been used since being re-kitted! If your keen let me know! Ill U2U my mobile number cuz i wont be back on here until Monday! (im in BrisVegas!)
