Out and back in in 90 seconds.

Today I did a delivery to a company that prints and fits the full car wraps. They were about to do a 70's beetle in
full leopard print. Should look good.

The reason is that this car will be used on the Guiness world records show as the worlds fastest engine change.
I saw a video of it and sure enough, they had it out and back in and driving in 90 seconds. 3 Blokes and a trolley jack.

Wonder how much was loosened off beforehand, bloody amazing effort thouh.

Some years back in the UK at VW Action they had an engine swap competition with a kosher VW mechanic who had to check all vehicles before and after to ensure all pipes, tubes etc were properly fitted and the times included starting the engine as well. I think the engine 'out' times were under a minute and the engine 'in' times were around 90 seconds. There were womens teams as well who put in good times. Mind you I remember trying to show off to my wifes brother and his mates on how quickly I could change the clutch on my KG on my own while 3 of them were just removing the engine from a mini. Before too long everything was all bolted together and I'm standing there all pleased as they hadn't even got their engine out when one of them said "I didn't know you had to change the thrust bearing as well!" I says " I didn't" then he points down and laughs "well what's that then?" Christ did I feel stupid, I still haven't a clue why I took it off!!! 🤪

This attempt is being made by Steve Muller. It has the backing of VGA. I'll be speaking with Steve at the beginning of next month after the official attempt has been recorded with Channel 7. It should then screen sometime in late October this year.
