shouldnt you have shifted before you get onto the roundabout?
maybe the only time its not practical is when you think you are driving a volksie, but forget that you are actually driving a toyota and accidentally turn the windscreen wipers on.
in the beginning, the universe was created.
this made alot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move.
Lot's of stuff familiar in the previous pages! Couple of things from going to Adelaide and back in a weekend:
High Beam/Spottie Tailgaiters
2 yr old Magna doing 80 in a 110 zone in northwest SA...and speeding up when I go to pass (I'm in a diesel 4wd, with car trailer and VW on-board) so I drop behind again as I'm too long out in the breeze...and we're back down to 70....so I'm "off turbo"...then back to 90....to 80 (makes the Jeep shift up/down all the time). After 40 k's of this I stop. I catch up much, much later to find him holding up a 3 B-doubles who are very upset (Gosh, the same ones I pulled over for and let past!)......Magna decides to stop in town.....hooray...
The last 10 years here in the Nayshuns Crapithole have seen a hideous decline in brainpower and more Weeties sold. The usual crap here? Slowing down to merge, people changing lanes into the one you're supposed to merge into, nose-to-tail on expressways, rubbernecking (had to slow down to 20 to do it!!!).
A NSW phenomena I noticed is people doing 90 in a 100, then doing 120 in the overtaking section and back to 90 afterward.
QLD phenomena....even though I live in Canberra...my sphincter puckers at having to go through circles in Brisvegas....nearly wiped out more times in three days than i have been in the last 25 years...

Example they are driving straight ahead at the roundabout but they put their right flasher on then don't put their left when they leave, when they should not have put the right one on at all and only their left one on after the last exit before the one they want. only when you are going past the straight ahead then you flash right, then left after the last exit before the one you want.Or if you are turning left you flash left
before ppl jump up and say I am wrong this is how I know about how to use you flasher on rondabout;
first I have done a Qld Transport Commercial drivers course
Secound I have just taken 2 teenagers through to thier licences and I checked with 2 Driver training schools and with a Qld transort tester,
and it is in the rule book with pictures sold by the Qld transport.

What's even worse since I posted the above have seen 3 yes 3 police cars ( 2 females & 1 male drivers) doing it completely wrong and that was in a 20 minute round trip to the shops and home.
So if they don't know what hope have we for everyone else to learn.
Marc
If you can't laugh at yourself you can't laugh at anyone else! Because life is to short not to LAUGH
yes the people who dont know how to use round abouts i was almost killed a couple of years ago while on a mountain bike by some clown in a van who went right from the left lane.
i normally start off in 1st and shift to 2nd half way through the roundabout if i have to stop or just down shift if i dont have to but i always have to shift back up before long

Yes but thats ok because they are there for our safety remember!! You know - the greater good, and there will always be casualties, the difference is casualties caused by the stupidity of police is a necessary cost - considering the great benefit they provide to society!
such as: sitting in their cars reading the paper, near road work; prosecuting every case against everyone stupid enough to contest, despite their distinct lack of evidence; charging people with traffic offences to keep uo the revenue raising quota; breaking up 'gangs' of urban youth hanging out down the shops; searching cars that look suss i.e. usually older cars, often VW's; arresting people for pissing in alleys in the middle of the city at 2am; doing raids on the wrong house and shooting the innocent residents (seems to be a strong past time in victoria); flashing their badges at on duty coppers, so they can avoid the dd or speeding charge; turning a blind eye to the massive street trade of illicit drugs, while setting up coordinated raids on alternative music festivals (the real criminals)...
I could go on... gives me a warm fuzzy everytime i think about it!

Or when you've just bought your McDonalds thickshake and changing down gears you squeezed the legs too hard, popping the lid off and making a big mess of yerself.

yeah, but you might be too dead to drive your new car.
I was following someone who went through a red arrow and then drove at about 40kmh about 12 inches from the gutter.
Did anyone see motorway patrol last night, the NZ reality cop show?
Some learner who had racked up 100 fines totalling over 10,000 and was still driving. And yet she drove away after getting another fine. Crazy. And the speed trap they set up, people doing 50kmh over the speed limit and the fines were buggar all.

Just to remind you, you said this earlier,

Amazer, i think dude two things have happened, either the story you told earlier was a story, or your a shitty driver, which is it?????? lol
Is your current unemployment linked to your shocking short term memory problem. even an old bastard like me isn't that bad. It was only two pages earlier.nn[ Edited on 20-8-2005 by fastnuf ]

I know who you think it is and you couldn't be further from the truth.
Your a prime example of the trash found on this forum at the moment.nn[ Edited on 20-8-05 by manx_xtc ]
awww shucks manx, i didnt know you cared so much. Perhaps you boys could start a thread about me and get some stuff off your chests? For the record I think am better than you 2 as I can argue a point using facts not name calling. As far as I know the only fact I dont have at my disposal is someones ID and if I see otherwise I will admit I am wrong and make an unreserved public apology. I thought we were going back to talking VW's? Congratulations on dragging another thread down with personal abuses... again. BTW fastnuf I did a search of your 12 posts, not too many of them are vw related.
4 directly quote me and have a go, 1 I believe indirectly has a go at me.
1 directly has a go at greg wards burnout.
1 says you hate white Australians
1 has a go at andrew
3 relate to hillclimbing
and 1 is a nice post in regard to waynes manx engine.
2/3 of your posts are just angry/antagonising/shit causing! Chill dude. Try to contribute a little more positively. You'll give yourself an ulcer or something.
Im sorry I didnt recognise the difference between pole and tree. If you said tree then I would have clicked. That was very silly of me. both words end in 'e' and a pole can be made out of a tree. Its obvious you meant tree not pole and if I consulted my tea leaves I would have figured that out.
The incident is fresh in my mind. It happened July 1987, I was an unaccompanied leaner, doing 100kph in a 60 zone, was about to cut a nice apex until a kombi came the other way. I probably saved both our lives with my lack of skill as I overcorrected and went into someones front yard. I got a ride in a paddy wagon, an appointment at the courthouse, lost the licence I didnt have, paid hefty $1500 fine, paid legal fees, and paid for repairs to all damage caused. Also realised that had some kids been playing in their front yard they would be dead. Taught me valuable lessons and you wont see me speeding in any residential or commercial area. I was an idiot and drove around like I was an invicible person... like all 17 year old males (apart form yourself) are.
By the way, I start work monday. 😀

I dunno... to tell me how you guys really feel about me, to air all your grievances, to see whether your opinion is popular opinion or not... or just for fun.

no worries at all. I guess I know someone who will not be getting special treatment with a late hillclimb entry in 2006, like I gave you this year, short memory. not that it mattered anyway cos you lost, even after the big noting how you were gonna break the record. Loser on and off track hahaha.
im not losing any sleep at all over you guys, in fact it brings a smile to my face knowing that ive irked you so much that you have to hijack a thread to say so :thumbnn[ Edited on 22-8-2005 by amazer ]

take a number darl. I got the shits with parallel parkers. At uni there is not enough parking, theres quite a hike if you get there at the wrong times... like I will be every 2nd week. There seems to be heaps of parking spots for 3/4 of a car. If everyone bunched up ther ewould be more parking... although I still wouldnt get one of them.
