This is my biiiiggggg thanks to all those dubbers who stopped to see if my daughter and I needed help on the way to the Lismore Herb Festival.
The Type 3 stopped between Bangalow and Clunes (I think that is how you spell it) and we couldn't get it going..........tried the fuses.........checked the coil, but no go. Along came Byron Bug and Robo, who immediately checked for power and fuel at the engine.........all was fine! So a phone call was made to the NRMA.
He checked out the same things as Robo and then had a look at the points.........they weren't opening! So he took them out and low and behold the lobe contact had snapped off............the points were under a month old!
He didn't have any (typical), so Mrs M (who was the only one of a three car cruise that stayed with us) raced into Lismore Super Cheap and grabbed us a set, the NRMA towed me to Bangalow and fitted the points and got us back on the road.
3 1/2 hours after stopping we finally arrived in Lismore and had a look around at the Festival and the cars.
Big thanks to Mrs M, Robo, Byron Bug, VWMA Editor and the gorgeous green beetle that was travelling with him. Steve (Purple Kombi with Suby engine) and to anyone else that I have missed.
Your assistance was truly appreciated.

The green Beetle belonged to Neil Penboss.
And here is the funny bit. I didn't realise you were running a 1800 Kombi motor in the Type3 until I spoke to you at the festival. I carry a full set of spares in the ute including a used set of points I replaced with electronic igntion last year. Ahh well, it all turned out well in the end.
Cheers
You live and learn don't you....................apparently, according to the hubby, daughter and I are learning how to do points when she is down next time...............oh, and he is buying a set for both her car and mine!

When the NRMA guy took them out of the car that is when he noticed that the piece was completely snapped off. When you looked the little piece may have been sitting in the correct spot, but not actually connected ..............its okay...........it all worked out in the end.
