I'm wanting a cheap (under $2k)motor bike to gain experience before I go for my unrestricted license................or if any one has a motor bike they want to hire me?????

Would prefer road/trail...........but anything with at least some rego would be fine !

Cheers

If you have a Gold License and are over 25 you can go straight to a decent sized engine...

If you have a Gold license and are over 30years................but you need to pass the same test that you would do if you were going for your P's, which is a 1 day test. To do this test you need riding experience, and on your L's you are restricted to 660cc !!! hence why I'm after a cheap bike...............get the experience, pass the test, get my unrestricted Lic........piss the bike off and buy a 1100cc !!!:thumb

You'll be lucky to find something safe for the $2k mark - but good luck! I would probably do the same! But Qld laws are a little easier i.e. 1 day course - then buy rocket ship - then have family gathering (either in a hospital bed or around a hole in the ground). I went straight and bought a Duke 600 Monster - a very good bike to learn on, easy to ride, handles well, goes well but not enough to rip your arms off! Its the sort of bike that you can progressively ride harder!

Go for a 350-600 cc four stroke trail bike.

Anything with long suspension (say XR400/DR350) will screw up your braking until you can control the fork dive under hard braking on tar.
A good practice is to do an "emergency stop" before your house/flat once a week (hope you don't live on a main drag!!)
Similarly, some 250cc bikes are just slugs and lack that little more "oomph" needed for passing. Mind you, you can do scary lean angles on a 250cc streeter!!

And lastly...whatever you do...NEVER get cheap on gloves, EVER! Fingers cannot be re-built.
