Hey gang i lowered the back of my splitty by adjusting the torsion bars and spring plates. However i lowered it to much and had to much negative camber ( Old style back axles). So the other weekend i raised it back up a bit to the desired height and camber.
I took for a drive today and when i parked it i had a look and the van has drop as far down as it can go. How is this possable if the torsion bars and spring plates are all pushed in as they should. I put the van on a hoist rased it up put a jack under the rear tyre
and started jacking the axle just keeps swinging up until its on the stops. In other words somethings not right and is not supporting the rear of the vehicle. Any one know what is wrong?

cheers immy

So your getting no resistance from the torsion bars, like they're not even there?
Did you put the spring plates on the right way round.?
Dunno on buses but on bugs the bars pretty much butt up against each other in the middle of the torsion tube..

Sounds like the inboard spline has stripped or spun in its weld.

Just slam the front to even it up........

Sorry but had to say it.

Take the plates back off and see if there is any load from the torsion bars themselves.
Making sure the bars are all the way in.
If not your problem is inward bound unfortunately.
