I had an older couple in a new merc pull up beside me while at the DOVW in melbourne and ask me how much i wanted to sell Buzz for?

I told them that i would do a clean swap.

Thye rolled up the windows while having a chuckle and drove off.

I took that as a "i'll think about it" :P

I had 2 P plate girls pull up a year ago saying they'd love a convertable Beetle and asked if they could buy it. When I told them how much the Cabriolet was worth, they changed their tune.

My parents have a 63 AP5 Valiant they bought new just before they were married. Dad Drove it to their wedding in late 63. All three of us kids were bought home from hospital in it when we were born. All three of us were driven to our weddings in it and two years ago we bought my daughter home from hospital in it. It is original and in close to perfect condition but on the rare occasions it does get driven now some little bogan offers you 1500 bucks for it! It was also stolen and used as a get away car in a bank robbery in the early 70's! Gotta love a car with a history.😁

G'day,
It's a good feeling when that happens. At the Vic VW Jamboree April 2004, we drove in to car park and 2 older blokes came over and asked if the Beetle was for sale and my wife said "if he sells this it'll be divorce" so I said "well we better make it worth while then, what about $10,000" so they walked around the car for a while then thanked us and wandered off. Thinking that was it I went off looking at the cars and catching up with people and Kaye was still back at the car when the guys came back and said they would buy it for $10,000 and Kaye said "no, it's not for sale". I told her she was nuts, that I could've built her a better one and have enough left for a couple of other projects. Now it's just sitting in the shed unregistered down home while we're living up here.
Cheers, Ian.

good feeling when it happens at the time and you do not intend to seel your pride and joy but when you do decide to put it on the market for what you think is a reasonable price and someone turns up and say i give you $ 1500 for it.... i got WTF ?????
there is a lot of dreamers out there and tyres kickers... only a few genuine buyers.....so by experience if someone gets the right offer and are prepared to let their pride and joy go then do so....
i should've done it when it was the right time myself and now regret, after all it is a vehicle, regardless what some people might say....

I only had our 56 oval back on the road for 2 weeks, when a bloke asked us if we would sell it as he has been looking for one and willing to pay $15,000 for his daughter. And another person asked us and we said no way as it took us forever to find one in such good nick for the price.

car forums. where a lot of peoples good intentions end up taking a good old car off the road forever never ever to see the road again. 🥲

Had a guy enquire about my buggy. Rang me on my mobile in traffic.
he said, "how much for the doon buggy,"
I said, "22,000 dollars."
very quietly he said, "you're dreamin...", and hung up
I said to myself, "you've got no idea." :o
What do they expect? When you spend 4 years and over 30k, it's not gonna come cheap just coz they think it is.
