Hi all

When I (finally) get my dream split window i'll cherish it forever, so I thought it would make sense (as it would be on the road a lot) to have it converted to LPG - if it is at all do-able without having to have major surgery to make it happen?

SO I wonder, has there ever been a conversion done?

Thanks a lot

S

dude, i have thought about this alot, i currently run two LPG converted cars.. and love it. Especially when you can pay as low as 35c per litre.. OK, with 15% more usage per litre who gives a toss. Anyway I know that running a 4cyl especially carby aspirated engine is not the best idea, If you hear different then let us know here as i would definately be interested.. Where doy you live?

Cheers, Tim

Hi, I'm in Newport (Northern Beaches) which means about 30k's each way to work in the city - I run a convertible 62 & 1/2 at the moment but dont use it to commute - its cheaper to suffer the endless bus journey cos the Caltex here is charging $1.25 a litre for unleaded plus the cost of the additives...(besides I could do without the hood getting slashed again, but that's another story...)

So if you already use LPG, how big is the gas canister & would it be risky (legal?) for passengers having it inside the bus? Because ideally im looking for an original 8 seater.

Nah the tanks are really safe nowadays, even in accidents or if they are punctured. They are both 70-80 litre tanks.. One car is a range rover with the tank in the boot, just behind the passenger behind the driver. It takes up a fair bit of room but it doesnt bother me. The other is a later model camry with the tank in the shape of a spare wheel in the spare wheel well. The spare wheel sits up on the side.. I have absolutely no complaints oh wait only if you go into the middle of australia or some parts of tassie where gas might cost you 80c per litre... but VERY rare. You can basically drive anywhere around OZ and get gas. Even in the middle of nowhere. Yep it would be legal inside the bus as long as a certified LPG installer carried the conversion out.. they know the laws.

Alright, sounds like I could find room in the back somewhere, ideas on a rough cost to acquire/install?

Thanks mate.

it is NOT a simple thing. You really need a water cooled car.
That said - it CAN be done.
Email Pepe for information. I am sure he would help.
