A month or so back a faxed a wish list of mainly second hand odds and ends that I need for my Karmann Ghia resto to several Sydney outfits.

Absolutely no response... even tho' I have done business with a couple of them in the past .

Is it any wonder some of us source our parts from overseas?
I seem to get more prompt responses & quicker turn arounds from West Coast USA!

Does the company you faxed the list to deal in Ghia parts ??? did you follow the fax up with a phone call ???
I read it on FACEBOOK so it must be true

I hear what your saying vw54, but I have to agree with lowrider. If you're prepared to spend the money, then the companies have to make some sort of effort to get the deal. Nothing like making the customer feel important.
Even if it is just a wish list, a little bit of attention might be enough to convince a buyer not to go grocery shopping, but buy a dozen packets of 2min noodles and spend the rest of the beasty :thumb
my two cents anyways

i hear what you are saying... i used to do that with emails... get no response as most of em are too busy to read all their emails then answer them... but i agree that surely if they want the business and they promote email addresses and fax #'s etc they should at least have the curtesy to reply.... i have found the best way to get what you want is to ring them up.. talking over the phone they cant get away till they tell you what you want...
my experience over the last few weeks with trying to track down parts for my car has shown me that it is better to ring them, and found that it is not always better to buy from your own state!! got the run around from several places in vic so went to nsw for stuff... happy with the dealings i have had with them and unless i need something urgent or cant explain what i want without showing the part i will continue to deal interstate.
i also dont think this is just a vdub thing... lots of companies do it.
see.... air and water do mix 😉

I dunno, to me it seems better to put something in writing, with my details, so they know I'm serious.
I don't expect an instant response.

I have experienced the same but via e-mail and consider it a matter of common courtesy for a business to respond to a client's request.
One reponse I had from a VW business I used to deal with when living in the Parramatta and even @ Gosford was it's this part - well I know what the part is do you have it - no f/n reponse so no more f'n busines of mine will they get.
