bugger man - that does suck

I'm just going to do a back-up right now - thanks for reminding me (it's been on my to-do list for months but this just promoted it to the top of the list!)

transferred all my stuff to D drive so I could reformat C drive, then reformatted D drive instead!
It was the computers fault I swear! It should have formatted C drive not D

if you have just formatted the drive, you can get back most of your data. it is important you do nothing to the drive to ensure the data is not overwritten again.

check out this thread on another forum for mroe info:

Oh no, i have been there done that, i now have 3 HDD, 1 small for operating system and some unnessecery files, the other in my machine for pics, music, docs etc, and a external one that i update monthly. the external one then lives away from the pc for any future crashes, good luck in finding the files, i feel your anger...

Why not backup to a DVD-RW or DVD-RAM disk. Saves a lot of heartache!

Thanks for the advice on recovery programs, got nearly all my stuff back, including the pics!
D drive was wiped clean but because everything was on C before I moved it to D all the stuff was still lurking on C drive

i try to do backups every month also... have also found that usb drives are quite handy to keep important stuff on them in between back ups... was told last night by my nightschool teacher (currently learning "C" programming) that usb drives have a limited number of read/write functions (then they apparently stop working)... has anyone else heard this or know more about it?

kewl to here ur getting the info all back chewy...

was about to tell u not to touch it...to run a recovery program over it.....

Big A used to do that sort of thing computer disaster recoveries on the drives....for when ppl mistakeningly erased files/drives....and in some cases...on purpose....(as in yeah...just leaving now...taking info with me...not letting u have it without ALOT of money swapping hands...)

The companies send him the drives/sometimes whole puters....he re creates them...and thanks very much....all back to normal...

His favorite is where someone leaves info but password protects it....ummm....no gonna help yas either...he can bust them too....

So here at home I learnt...nothing is sacred...no secret worth hiding....and no point really...if Big A wanted to know it...well, he could find it.

But I save him time and back up the programs (occassionally)...actually, at one point he had the systems from the network at home just back it all up to a dedicated puter....that was sole purpose of one of our puters....back up unique files from all others...

hmmm..miss the simplicity of that.....oh well...

So...back to thread...sorry u went thru the panic of it all...its the photos I worry about most too...but at least in the end its good news..
dubless. 🥲
