Costs around $250 in parts such as fuse box, switches, relay's, flasher units, wire etc. This is working on you supplying guages installed, indicator switch cluster, high beam switch and all lights fitted to buggy. If lights aren't fitted then wires are just left unterminated.
Total cost is usually around the $1000 - $1200 mark. I charge ( Custom Offroad ) $990 for a VW powered VW buggy and around $1400 for an EFI powered buggy. This comes with a custom wiring diagram and a few other tricks.
Problem is when I say 10 hrs I mean 10 full hours and not 10 slow hours. It is pretty hard to find 10 hrs straight to work so most will hang onto them for a week or so and do a few hours each day.
I have seen buggies which cost around the $2000 mark and they were nothing special. Many auto elec's just charge on an hourly rate and if they haven't done a few before then it will take them longer to do. I am about to do a custom job as a one off and I reckon it will take around the 20 hr mark. So there is also exceptions to the norm.
On a bright note ..... if your buggy is at the Auto Elec that Kurt and Gunter usually use then he does a very nice job and I was impressed with it when I saw the finished product.
I hope that helps.
