Last time I heard, u couldn't. Cause to fit the swb body, u need to shorten the VW pan, and therefore becomes an Individually constructed vehicle, which therefore must be compliant to the current design, engine noise and emission standards.

All in here anyways:

(This is the comments from an aussie provider)

& Apparently no VW engine will be able to comply with these standards.

69' baja: kombi box, thing spindles, irs, disc front, type 3 rear drums, 2 inch lift kit, 31x10 rears. 👍
New engine in process: 94mm p&bs, 74mm C/w chomol Crank, 35.5x39 SP heads, turbo. Wierd combo, hopeful torque monsta!

Yeah, everybody is buying buggies with rego history.
In QLD you need modification papers approving the buggy.
QLD transport stopped approving them in 2000.

heres an idea .. take it for a wander to NSW to get the shortened chassis approved and then get the rest of the modifications approved locally in QLD ... ?

is it plausible?? *eeep* possibly shouldn’t have started component collecting until AFTER the rule book got read.

any suggestions for a Queenslander wanting to do a pan up rebuild for a Regoable buggy??

Cheers all
