Want to get rid of the daily driver (2000 Daewoo Lanos) and buy either a Superbug (preferably 1974 as it was born the same year as me!!!) or a Type 3 (most likely a fasty, cause they look puuuurdy). As I do a lot of Km's what is going to be the better ride, the bug or the Type 3? I am looking for something that is going to be comfortable, easy to drive and park and has a bit of go under the right foot. Do type 3 's come with air con ?

(I also have a NB Cabrio which is too scared to come out of the garage and an oval which is a dog of a daily driver)

A type 3 is more comfortable, roomier and quieter. Front and rear suspension is rubber mounted, plus there is more metal, double skinned above the gearbox, bigger windows, better viibility slightly. They have longer front and rear overhang so they take up a little more parking room than a beetle. Just because you have front and rear bonnets, dont think you can pack for much of a family holiday though, neither are large. Air conditioning is standard VW quarter vent window... although the later ones had pretty good dash vents.

I agree with amazer but owning 2 L bugs 74/75 look for a 75

The rack and pinoin steering is the BEST for A daily (lighter than a box)

They also have indicators in the bumper like the 76

I 2nd the 75L

To add to it the are cheap for what you get.

Go for as late as possible. More creature comforts. Disc brakes, 12 V, collapasable steering, high back seats etc etc
All standard.

I would have to say that the type3 is a very smooth ride and great on long trips. More room inside and softer ride even after we put coilover shokies on my daughters (Pink_Lady) fastie the ride is still great.

Type 3 to me rides better as I've owned various noh2o VW's and beside the Kombi they are my next preference
