I know it stands for Deutcsh Democratisch Republik (or something like that). I think DDR represented Western Germany and RSR represented East Germany at the time. I bought a DDR badge in Berlin and I wanna display it on my oval. Would this be politically correct? ie: i'm not going to piss anyone off with it am I?

se Berliners are nice ppl...... ahm...... sum tschermens would like to show their arrogance but usually these have retained a sense of apartheitism from communism from when they brought that post-war attitude to Aus inthe 50's and 60's.

Nowdays it vood bee se Bedge thet is more the worth of history NOT Communism .

DDR = Deutsche Demokratische Republik (bullshit) cause that was the Commo side!!! (hence bought in Berlin)

BRD is Bundesrepublic Deutschland = United Republic of Germany ( both of course until 1989)

I hef 2 pisses of se Wall !!! ................................... also: My avatar shood spell Fahrvergnuegen!!

SO, if I use my DDR plate, it would imply that I might be a Commie?

All it would mean is that you have a classic VW Oval that has a period correct "DDR" plate that would indicate you were on the "Other" side of the wall. the side that put it up:o

Only a idiot would take offence at this, as it was the initials for East Berlin registered cars to indicate where it was from. East Berliners where not all comunists you will find (hence the big friggin wall) and I think more than a few Beetles, Notches, Busses and the odd Trabant would have had them in the 60's, 70's etc.

What ever makes you happy man, it's your car. I have one of these plates as well and will be displaying it on my Bus when i get it on the road.

lol - sounds like it's one unit more than nonsensical 🙂

ok, based on the good advises by everyone, I'll make my DDR badge a 'special occassion' deal (which kinda sucks coz i wanna brag 'bout my toys). I'm thinking i'll just make up a metal oval plate and stick my DDR sticker on it as a daily thing - looks cheap enough to not consider stealing it!
