When deck lid stand offs are used what method is used to retain the lid at the catch as the lid no longer engages, is the lid left to just sit against the body. Also what is the price of the hoodjaks type of stand offs.

the engine lid still latches.
you may need to tweak the catch a little.
mine latches o.k.
Most people seem normal, till you get to know them.
From memory you just bend the tab back till it hooks up on the lock...
Alex
Pete has a 68 on so the latch has a hook different to the early lids.
U might have to cut n extend the hook arm a bit to get it to go into the latch, or make a new one from BILLET lol another project
i had these on my 54 beetle, the catch still worked a treat just a bit of tweaking n it all fitted up sweet..
but no spring, so get out the broomstick.. :P
these are FS @ $20.00 for da set
if your interested U2U me yeah..

Yeah you still get the latch, although you cant use the spring anymore obviously which is annoying

a broom works well instead of the spring😂
When I install Hoodjax on customer's cars, I 'tweak' the catch on the engine lid for early models or the body on later models. This is easy with a pair of multigrips or pliers. It is important that your engine lid weatherstrip/sealing rubber is in good, pliable condition - not cracked/hard or missing.
As Che said, you lose the spring when using Hoodjax, but the benefits more than compensate for this one drawback - it is easy to completely remove the lid to work on your engine!
I can supply Hoodjax for $70 plus P&P - usually around $15-20 anywhere in Aus.

Hey VW Cool, I have a w decklid i want to use but one of the mounts is broken, I also am trying to do this without using the standard hinges as they are too bulky. Do you have any quick release setups that doesn't require pins through the lid. With my intercooler setup it will be hard to open the lid too far anyway. Was hoping to be able to undo them through the standoff opening.

Yeah, you can kinda squeeze your hand in and get the lid off without lifting it up... But you might need small hands!

How do you unclip the decklid from the mounts? do you have any pics?

What do you mean by 'mounts'? The U-shaped sections on the car, or the Hoodjax?

I think I'm getting a little confused what hood jacks actually are. Are they different from standoffs? I mean how do you unconnect the lid from the ushaped sections. Sorry to sound so stupid but I have never really taken much notice.

Can anyone post (or link to) a pic of Hoodjax please?

youy can use a spring by extending it with the long "tab "cut from another spring and bolting them together
