Hi Anthony

I have spoken to this company a few times regarding importing some of there products.

I should be bringing in some of there air ride kits within the next 3 - 4 months.

I can't vouch for the quality however, as I haven't seen the products in the flesh.

One thing to keep in mind is, depending on where you in Australia it might be hard to get it on the road legally.

If your interested you can give me a call on 0402 425 451, or keep an eye on www.xcars.com.au

When I was in the US at the classic I had a look and tryed it all out.
Great stuff and well made.
I was looking at getting a set up but due to our road laws etc it would not be possiable to run a car with this set up legally. Ok if you want to make a trailer Queen or run the risk of hoping not to get busted.
Everything 36HP !

i live in WA which seems to be a bit slacker when it comes to modifying vehicles.

is it only the vw's being bagged that are not allowed over where you guys are? or does that apply to ANY car. as i have seen street legal cars over here that are air bagged.

Indi you have a U2U

It's all cars that are air bagged ( not from factory) that have a hard time.

But it can be done, Just speak to a certified engineer in your state first.

Accoding to the Tubular suspension systems site, cutting or removing of original bumpstops is not allowed, and the car must maintain 100mm of ground clearence. So getting it to sit on the ground will not be legal.

It looks like the systems need wheel sensors and be self leveling when load is applied (WA). Sounds expensive...

I might call transport and get the low down (pun intended) on airbags.

Ok,
Just spoke with the technical dept of transport & licensing wa, and they basically have a dim view of slamming vehicles. (supprise supprise).

The guy mentioned that "if we cant slide a piece of 4 'be 2 under the vehicle its not alowed". That is with the system fully deflated or inflated.

The vehicle only needs to be self leveling if gas discharge lamps are used (?) something to do with if they get mud on them or something... blah.

They want to know the specifications of the airbags, and if they are really designed for slammin' they wont happily pass the vehicle.

It is not an issue that we would not simply be replacing stock springs/shocks (wishbone/strut front) as the airbag system is obviously far removed from a torsion bar beam. Anyway, not an issue.

Makes no difference if the vehicle is commercial (kombi) or passenger.

...anyway, the low down is:
They take a dim view of slamming and with that in mind, before doing anything i'd take photos and specifications and get an 'ok to proceed' nod from them. Not sure i'g give them the airkewled site for reference purposes 🙂

...oh, and i managed to get the technical dept direct number. 😀

r,
James
