I wanted to install an oil pressure guage - VDO and have bought the 1/8 pipe thread T adaptor (for a T1).

What is the best way to install this into the existing oil pressure sender hole?

If I screw it in oil still leaks from the thread - and I am frightened that if I scew it in further I will crack the case.

It seems like it need a spacer???
Anyone done this?

are you using teflon tape to seal the thread?
see.... air and water do mix 😉

dont use teflon tape as it make the thread too large and you will crack the case.

Use some sort of liquid gasket compound like curall or similar and just tighten slowly and gently

Clean the hole and thread witrh some acetone or thinners some the gasket compound has a better change of sealing and staying in the threads

Or you could get a male /female adaptor from Pirtek and screw n glue it into place then fit the Tee adaptor
I read it on FACEBOOK so it must be true

are the cases really that weak??? ( not taking the piss.. i seriously dont know)
i was thinking that a little bit of tape would compress in the thread and seal it. we use it where i work on some real thin walled aluminium piping and it doesnt crack

Use a sealant, teflon tape has less friction and allows the thread to be inserted further, as it's a tapered thread, it could crack the case. If you do use teflon tape start your tape a couple of threads back, this is so that no tape fragments can ever get into the oil system.

I had been told that because the adaptor is the earth sealant or tape would comprimise this - maybe not so.

I couldnt find any fittings that had the same thread as the crankcase so i had to buy a tap and die set, got it all sorted. i used loctite 505 or something, the same shit we used to seal the crankcase... not 1 leak yet :-)
