it went it stopped wouldnt start, started 5hrs later, died when i went to grab 2nd, have 2 rev the shit outta it so it didnt die on me, made it home finally, seemed 2 run fine, went for shorty drive up the street and it died 1 hill from my house:cry hasnt started since, any ideas??

inside carb is totally black, fuel still goes in when i pump it, starter makes slight noise like trying to turn it but then dies, like clunk then stop, has newer, larger battery in it now btw
according to what ive done since the last post from the idiot guide, my starter is rooted, whats a newbie worth?
A starter problem won't give you the issues you pointed in your first post. Will it turn over? If not, will it clutch? If you get it going, will it idle?
starter is one of many problems, i needa get it to at least be capable of starting before anything else
Check your ignition system using the idiots guide, 1st post sounds like dodgey points or busted coil,,or any number of things.. now it sounds like ur battery is flat, or a wire could have dropped off somewhere. I have just completed the rounds on mine, replacing literally everything... I suggest if you have doubts about the starter take it out and head to an auto electrician to test it B4 you buy a new one, test ur battery too (hydromoter etc), then go from there.. good luck 🙂

Closed up points - faulty condenser - dirty Distributor cap..
etc.... dirty spark plugs....
These parts were designed to be replaced......

When replacing the starter motor...
Wreckers have heaps of them.....
make sure You grease the shaft where the pinion slides onto and the hole in which the shaft fits into....
this all helps the starter motor work.... better...

pulled the plugs out, suposedly were replaced 240 miles ago when it was serviced, yet they are 100% BLACK, is it just me or it shouldnt be like that, somehow im thinking not
Are they a dry black or oil covered?
If rich they will be black in 5 mins

it just coughed, with double power goin thru it anyway, figure battery is a wee bit flat by now so charging the one in the car and the old one then trying again
ok it turns over now, whats the theories on it dying randomly after running for a while? can anyone think of a reason why it will start once then not have te juice to kick over again?

also 3 and 4th plug had a bit of oil on them, 1 and 2 were bone dry but totally black
it goes, under higher revs it coughed out a shirtload of black smoke, not good since the garage is part of the house, smells great, then made a weird loud pop kinda noise and died, might be what i was looking for cause on the road i wouldnt hear it, and yeah a little bit of smoke or steam or something from the carb, any ideas, prefer if they arent expensive ones...
If your battery is draining then your regulator or alternator could be stuffed....which means you're running the car on straight battery and draining it. When the car is running is the G light on?
nope it goes off like normal, only comes on when its about to stall when im being lazy
will turn but wont fire now, just like the other day when it died on me, makes a weird sucky noise when its trying, i think it always has tho, but its the only noise it makes now other than the starter
stupid wire fell off the back of the coil again, look like a real idiot now, seems to be ok except the very faint poping noise, misfiring i think? and theres smoke coming out of the oil breather pipe... dunno wtf that could be.
problem may be solved, timing dosent seem right according 2 idiot guide its timed as a 1100 not a 1600, so basically the opposite of what its meant to be, who would back this to be my problem, just a quick note, i wasnt the useless one that set it wrong.
Anotha prob could be junk in the carby, happened with mine and my hilux.
When she starts take off ur air filter and stick ur hand ova it, then rev the hell outta it till it dies that should hav created enough pressure 2 blow the junk out.
I say this cause with both 2 of my cars hav this problem or sumfin lyk it.............ITS ALWAYS THE CARBY with my cars. Except my subi cause it's fuel injected lol🤪😉
