Hey guyz,
On my type 4 2l duel carb when using the engine for a bit of braking down a long hill then come to a complete stop and push the clutch in the engine dies. Aparantly there is a throttle return damper to stop this but even after a long hill i would imagine it would still do it. It does it more frequently when its cold. Can anyone suggest what i might be looking to do tuning wise to stop it cutting out after engine braking?
any help or ideas would be great :-)
if your talking about the Decelarator valve (or dash pot), it may be getting stuck and making the mix too lean. i don't know where to buy one but temporarly you could maybe block the hoses, The emissions will be worse but it may save the engine.
have you got a picture of a dash pot? I think im missing the whole thing. And which hoses are you talking about?
thanx for the reply
here's a pic of two efi decel valves. if the carby models had them they would look similar. if your engine has ever been rebuilt chanses are it's long gone.
yea, PO did a shit rebuilt, we tidied it up and there not on there. Anyone got one or know where i can get one from?
if you don't have one it can't be the problem then
yea, we gave the carbies a tune up last night, seems to be fine now... but just idling a bit slow. Thanx for your help... if you do come across one can u pm me
cheers
