I believe it would if you removed and threw away the rare original faceplate, would be a shame though...

I have a 66 Beetle Im slowly doing up as well, But I drive the 56 every week, and it would be nice to have a radio. I would never throw away the face plate, and when I find a period radio for the 56 I would just swap it. Is it 6 or 12 volt? OK Ill take it, how do you want me to pay for it?

G'Day Robo, radio is in good condition but I cannot guarantee whether it works as I have no idea on how to test it. I believe it's a 6 volt but I'm not sure. Just trying to be as honest as I can about this. I'll u2u you my bank details and you can deposit the payment if you're still interested.
Cheers,
AL
