Excuse my ignorance but I thought that idfs only came in 40, 44 and 48. Is the 36 from a non-vw engine (alfa?) or is it referring to the venturi?

They also came in 36's
And yes it refers to the venturi size. They will take up to 32 vents

Personally i like them better as the idle jet is on the top and not the side. They are Italian and not Spanish as well.

They came off 1500 Alfa Suds and Lambo's.
But i would safely bet 99% are the Alfa variety

they fir IDF 40/44 manifolds, filters and linkages.
Yep - great carbs for a 1600

Good price - you would have these on you car for round $700ish complete buying a good linkage and filter set up carefully

Well done Bizzare you seem to know ya stuff,

If any one has Febuary 2005 issue of volksworld there is a step by step article on how to fit and the benefits of twin carbs not only will it boost your power it claims that you will visit the Gas station less regularly.... sounds good to me with the price of petrol nowadays.

will photocopy or scan if someone needs it.

The 36's are an excellent carb for a mild 1600 or even 1776. I had a pair and once jetted right gave great economy and good improve in smooth power delivery. If I didn't already have a pair of 45 dellortos I'd grab them
cheers
Good price

On the 36's I just ran air cleaners on a medium height manifold.
The dellortos have the velocity stacks and air cleaners.
Good luck... great little carb.
